Struggling with low mood, advice needed please
« on: October 18, 2018, 12:35:36 PM »

Hi I am new to this website but would really appreciate some advice. I have been struggling with mood swings for several months now, most times I feel very lonely and so so sad. I feel like I'm losing my identity and cannot snap myself out of it. I am anxious and feel so tired all the time. Each day I try to put on a happy brave face but I feel I'm smiling less and less as the days go on. I haven't had a diagnosis for menopause as yet but I feel this is what this could be. I have various other symptoms too. I have to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor but I need to know is this what I'm feeling normal? Some days it just feels so dark 😢

Hi Dt, Welcome. Yes I can totally sympathise, I suddenly started feeling the same way as you about 6 months ago. Have been going through peri for a few years but the low mood and constant tearfulness was a new thing. Made me really depressed until I finally got the Dr to give me HRT. Much much better now. Hope you get some joy at your appointment. And no, you are not going mad! Well no madder than me, anyway..  ;)

Aww I hear ya sista!!! not been on the threads for a while due to the usual bout of isolating myself!!! but I really do understand as I am sure the majority of posters do.

And I agree your really not going do-lally although family members may disagree ;D

Hopefully once you have visited your GP and had the usual hormone/blood tests and results come back as showing significant fluctuations in hormone levels (mine were off the scale!!!!) then you will be able to discuss your options with your GP.

I have a very supportive GP who after trying me on a few various HRT medications have now found the correct one that has given me some normality - well of a fashion.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you get on.  ;) ;)

Same here, I ended up taking HRT recently, the one I was given at first worked well for my mood but made my hair shed, so I spoke with my GP and she agreed to change it, but it doesn't seem to work as well. I will need to go back. I hope your doctor can sort you out.
