Femoston 1/5 - hair/mood/sleep questions, ideas please
« on: October 18, 2018, 10:48:19 AM »

First off I went to my GP and asked about HRT because I felt I was going mad, I was feeling really crazy, anxious, moody, very very low and dark. I could have done with the hot flashes although they were a bit much at times, that was tolerable. She gave me Kliovance. At first it was really good, my mood and anxiety lifted, I didn't feel so crazy anymore. But after 3 weeks or so, my hair started falling out. I had problems with hair loss prior to that, for a few years, and had just managed to keep it under control the previous months, then suddenly, the shedding started again. I read about different HRT drugs and some progesterone types like that in Kliovance is testosterone based?

So I spoke with my GP again and asked her if I could try Femoston Conti. She agreed to let me try it, I'm on 1/5 at the moment. The shedding has not really stopped, the mood has gone down again, I keep waking up in the night over heating, mind racing, so I feel really exhausted in the day (I also have fibromyalgia so that's not helping at all), my anxiety is getting bad again, and I tend to feel sick but I am not sure this is related to the HRT or if I am just going through a phase of feeling sick. And the hot flashes have returned.

I am at a loss, I was feeling better on kliovance, but the hair loss brought me down after I thought I'd finally fixed that, and now I have more issues on top of that with the new tablets. Not sure what to do now. I am so tired, I can't think  :(

Any suggestions? I think I might have to go back to my GP but she doesn't seem very savvy as far as HRT goes.

Hi,
I can't really give any advice on the hair loss, it must be so horrific, no wonder
you're feeling so down...
The only thing I can think of is that your not on enough oestrogen?
I don't really know, maybe try a different one, maybe a patch? That might me better than tablets for you....I'm sorry I can't advise , I'm sure someone will be on soon who knows more than me, or maybe has experienced the same thing....
Hang on in there, hope you find a solution soon.....
Let us know how you get on....

Just to add, the feeling sick is probably the prog in the femoston, I had that for a while, it comes and goes now, but isn't as bad as when I first started it..

Thanks for the reply jillydoll, I think I will have to get back to my GP because at the moment, my mood is so bad, I am feeling so low, my sleep is rubbish, I feel like I did pretty much before I started the Kliovance so I don't see the point of taking something that carries some risks when I am gaining no benefits. Hot flashes have started a little again too, so maybe the Femoston is not strong enough for me or just not the right one, but I am worried about taking more testosterone based progesterone because of my hair. I don't know how I would do with patches because I am sensitive to adhesives, I get rashes from certain plasters, I probably would get a rash with those, depends on the adhesive I guess.

You could try the oestrogen gel and separate progesterone.
I know a hell of a lot of women use that regime.and get good results.
Maybe use the Utrogestan (progesterone) vaginally, instead of orally.
Just a suggestion. Hope you can sort it out, I feel for you ,
Keep us informed how you're getting on...
good luck.

Yes I was looking at the separate ones, thanks for reminding me. I wondered though if Utrogestan is 'hair friendly' I think it is if it's the one I'm thinking of. Something to discuss with my GP I guess.
