Hi Rosie63

Yeah, I was on femoston conti, then changed to Sandrena & Utrogestan, but after
8 days felt ‘not right', had a wobble in the supermarket, like I was going to pass out or something, really weird, so with all the feelings I was having, plus such a bad upset stomach, I decided to stop.
I've gone back on the femoston conti now, and feel better.

I might add, when I first started the Femoston, back in February, I had a bad stomach,
which I assume was from the progesterone, it lasted about a week or 10 days, then went away.....bloating, diarrhoea, pains, wind.......it does come back sometimes, but also it depends on what I eat, onions, garlic, fruit, veg, but I can't live without them, the name of it in the femoston is Dydrogesterone.

Hope you feel better soon, xx

Thanks JD.  That must have pretty scary in the supermarket. I hope you weren't on your own and I hope you're ok now !

I stopped the Premarin yesterday and I'm going to try to have a break from everything.  The longest I've gone without hrt is 9 days before symptoms came back so will see how I go but I'm not expecting miracles.  In the meantime I'm going to try what Crafty Kaz has suggested in her post to try to get my gut in a better place.

Thanks again and wishing you well.

Hi Rosie63

In HRT terms with that dose of Premarin (1.25 mg) then as you say you are "getting on a bit" at 64 to be taking high dose (horse) oestrogen - ie not bosy/bio-identical. That is one of the highest of the standard HRT doses and in your position and experiencing symptoms (from the HRT) I really would try either to acclimatise to a lower dose or persevere with a different HRT type - not least because if you absorb it well you may find that the standard dose of utrogestan is not sufficient to keep the lining thin and you don't want to be taking higher doses of this (prog) or bleeding heavily at your age I doubt - I am similar and only have bleeds every 6-8 weeks but still they are a right pain!

I suggest you try Estradot patches - it should not have any effect on the gut - tablet HRT is usually more likely to upset the gut and lead to nausea etc - and as the others say make sure your main menopausal symptoms are sorted (presumably mainly flushes and sweats?) and deal with your gut issues separately following advice and suggestions from the others. You may get a resumption of symptoms in the short term but a dose/method like this is much more manageable and associated with less risk than high dose equine oestrogens in your 60's and beyond.

I am mid 60's on Estradot 50 + (62.5) with utrogestan 200 mg vaginal 12 days in a 6-8 weeks cycle.

Let us know how you get on :)
