Nausea
« on: October 08, 2018, 11:03:47 AM »

Hi ladies

Does anyone get nausea with their menopause ?

I've been trying to eliminate things that could be the cause, including stopping ppi and changing times in taking them, changing/stopping certain foods thinking they maybe the cause.

I still feel sick every morning until about 11am. This all started about two months ago. My friend had nausea in her menopause but only after she stopped her  Hrt.

My Gallblader was taken out in December this year but I now seem to be able to eat normally again.

I'm on Hrt gel and coil.

I'd appreciate any feed back and experiences.

Thanks

How is your diet over-all? Are you eating 'enough'?  That sounds like the gut is hungry after fasting overnight.  Does it gurgle once you have eaten, like it's saying 'thank you'  :D  ???.  I feel sick when my body is hungry so have to eat B4 otherwise I stop eating completely  :'(

Thanks ladies

CLKD I seem to get it after I've eaten, yesterday I had porridge and mixed frozen fruit, it was filling, so I think I'm eating enough.
Today I had 2 Weetabix with hot milk, still had nausea.

I have Been eating more fatty foods and stomach seems ok,which surprises me after having my Gallblader out in December.
I have to have some fatty foods as my Ms medication upsets my stomach if I don't.

Dotty I have just increased my Hrt gel by a small amount to see if that will help this is my third day so not sure when that will kick in.

Yes I get it when my estrogen level drops, I just use an extra pump of estrogel and within a couple of days it sorts it. I'm postmenopause btw.

If it's like morning sickness then it's a pituitary gland meno issue (or so I've been told?) and will be more motion sickness and dizziness. If purely digestive nausea then could be slow transit from hormonal imbalance or low gastric acid.

I've found the sea bands (acupressure bands) highly effective for the head nausea. Digestive enzymes or acidic bitters can help push food through for low acid and slow transit. Also the Holland and Barrett Aloe Colon Cleanse tablets are good to make things flow easier if things get backed up.

Sometimes I would feel worse after eating but it was my stomach saying 'thank you'  ::).  Apparently.  As a recovering anorexic who ate enough to remain upright I still have safe foods and still graze so that I avoid nausea.  Recently I've noticed feeling queasy after eating but it doesn't last long and isn't nasty enough to cause panic.  [if that makes sense  :-\].

One should not use any laxative medication regularly as it makes the bowel action too slow.  Also, I read today that by the time the laxative works, the gut has already taken everything it needs for the body ;-).  If 1 really considers laxatives then 1 should speak to a GP and be referred to the appropriate specialist to rule out real problems.

My nausea has never been motion related.  I did have vertigo - twice  :o which was a whole different kettle of fish [what ever that means  :D]

Maybe have a supper 40 mins. B4 bedtime to layer your gut through the night?

I had terrible nausea during the peri menopause.  It was just like morning sickness and sometimes I would wretch when brushing my teeth. It used to wear off as the day went on but came back the next day. My doctor said it wouldnt be related to the menopause and sent me for several tests but everything came back clear . I'm convinced it was hormone related  especially as it cleared up on its own after several months. I had really bad morning sickness when I was pregnant so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Hello ladies

I also have this problem. It seems to accompany the jittery, quivery feelings that I get in my body. I can't work out of these sensations create anxiety or if anxiety causes the sensations. I do know that when the horrible feelings stop I feel so much better.

Hello PinkPepsi and welcome to the forum. - I could be wrong but I think that low iron levels contribute to these problems. Can I ask were your iron levels included in the tests that you had?

Wishing everyone well.

Hi Thanks for the replys

Ok so today I had my Ms appointment with my Nuro, and told him about my
Nausea and about how I start feeling ill when I miss a meal or it's late.

He has written to my Doctor requesting a fasting blood test in case I'm going
Lower than normal (my son is Diabetic). Together with a scan request to check my abdomen liver and kidneys, it could be down to my Ms drug as one of the side effects is nausea but I never had this as an initial symptom when I first started it so he thinks it's unlikely and if avoidable doesn't want to take me off it as my ms is stable and I haven't had any new symptoms since starting it.🤞😊

Will keep you posted

Hello  Smokey1234.

Thank you for the update.

Your post made me wonder if the drug I take for Ulcerative Colitis has caused my nausea.  I will need to search  for  the patient information slip to find out!

Do you think you are likely to have type 2 diabetes, if so  I understand that this can be successfully treated with diet changes.

I hope your nausea can be  treated successfully. It's a horrible feeling and you have my sympathy.

Wishing you well.

Thank you CLKD. I use ovestin for VA but that's it. Its two years since my last period and I've been very lucky as I've only had a few mild flushes although I don't know if they can strike at any time.
My main symptoms were nausea and urticaria during the peri neither of which were put down to peri but I'm convinced they were.
