Estradot/Utrogestan -struggling/low mood, shouting!!
« on: October 25, 2018, 08:02:06 PM »

Hi I am 46 and started HRT in May (for post-menopausal symptons). I as prescribed 50mg Estradot and Utrogestan daily by tablet. This did not agree with me as I had bloating etc and stopped after 3 months. In September I was advised to switch to taking the utrogestan vaginally and this has been great - no bloating at all. However one month in my mood is terribly low, patience zero (all I seem to do is shout at my kids and hubbie). Help - will this settle, do I need more. something different?? Thanks

Hi TNM45689
I am 41 years old, changed to estradot 50 and Utrogestan 200mg tablet orally once a day for 12 days each month in August.
Just finished my month three on these and last week was absolutely overcome with emotion, depressed, low mood.
Going to the gynecologist for a review at the end of next week and honestly can't wait. Might mention if I can take it vaginally.
I think it's the progesterone that is not agreeing with me but maybe a dip in my own hormones.
Feeling a little better this week but would advise that you keep on it and hope it will settle in time. This patience thing is really hard especially when you do not feel like yourself.
Keep positive and what keeps me going is to tell yourself it's going to get better
Hope this helps GR

Hi Golden Retriever how are you doing on your regime now? Since I have taken the Utrogestan daily vaginally things have been a lot better. I am not sure if 50mg Estradot is enough but I am going to continue for 3 months to see how I go.  Having taken Utrogestan by mouth every day caused all sorts of problems for me - the worse being the hard bloatedness. Could you take a 100mg Utrogestan  a day vaginally instead of 200mg?

Hope your appointment with your GP went well.

Hi TNM45689
Going to gynecologist today so I'll update later.
My mood has been really bad this week. Feeling very deflated and depressed.
Today I'm not too bad but will see after the appointment.
How you feeling?

Hi TN  45689
Had that appointment yesterday with th gynecologist
Decided to go back to the Femoston 2/10. I just couldn't handle the regime. I said I felt very sedated groggy from the Utrogestan and she said that it shouldn't make you feel sedated. Omg it says it in the leaflet..
Wasn't as emotional at all with it and probably should have never changed to the estradot and Utrogestan
Fingers crossed this improves my mood
Thank you for all your advice
