Hi, I had been using Femseven Conti quite happily for a couple of years until the supply problem meant that I had to change to Evorel Conti. I thought that I had got away with having no side effects but in the last couple of weeks I have been feeling very premenstrual - breast tenderness, anxiety especially. I have never been on a sequi regime but I think that would be my only option to avoid the type of progesterone that is in the Evorel Conti. Should I just go for the oestrogen gel and separate progesterone and what is the best regime to be on ( I know many of you use progesterone vaginally, for example)?

PS I have been told that Femseven Conti may be out of stock until next March!! which is a very long time to put up with my symptoms.

Oestrogel and continuous progesterone works very well for me x

I use Estradot patches with 200 mg Utrogestan x 12 days vaginally on a long cycle (6-8 weeks) with OK from my doctor which gives me a withdrawal bleed - hateful at my age I know ( mid 60's) BUT  I get all those weeks of oestrogen only and I feel great!

Hurdity, would my GP prescribe that kind of regime or would I need to go to a Menopause specialist?

You should not need to go to a specialist - these are products available on NHS and if you want to try them then it is your right to have them! You might need to argue your case though as apparently in some areas some Trusts/practices go for the cheapest option. Prepare your arguments and reasons, find a sympathetic doc in your practice, and be prepared to stand your ground and hopefully you will gety what you want. My argument is easy - I wanted body identical hormones and nil by mouth. Simples! The longer cycle is off license so maybe best not to ask for this straight off - in any case I don't think mine is one my notes as a long cycle - the doc just sanctioned it! She said no need to bleed every month....

However if you got on well with Femseven conti then the Mirena coil has the same progestogen so might be an option?

Thanks. I always tend to think of the Mirena coil as a type of contraceptive so hadn't considered it as an option.
