Hi all,
I am 43 and stopped breast feeding my baby 3 months ago. Since stopping breast feeding my wide ranging hormone symptoms seem to have gone even worse. For the last 3 months from approximately day 7/8 of my cycle, until after ovulation around day 14 I have the most CRIPPLING nausea. Very very much like morning sickness (metal taste in mouth, travel sickness feeling, can only eat weird foods like cockles, greasy chicken and drink lemonade). It's so bad on some days I have to walk around very slowly to cope with it. Mid-cycle I also have horrendous anxiety and fatigue. My cycles are now anywhere between 21 and 24 days (the used to be 29/30 days in my 30s).
GP wants me to consider taking the mini pill to attempt to stop me ovulating and shut my cycle down. I am reluctant to do this just yet. But I can't go on like this.
I know that when you stop breastfeeding the prolactin hormone for producing milk reduces. This in turn cause estrogen and progesterone to increase. Clearly I'm reacting badly to the spike in estrogen from around day 6/7/8 of my cycle. I'm worried this is now my new 'normal'
Desperate for some advice.
