I am desperately looking for advice. I have been using this forum since November for advice and support, however have never posted. To try and cut a long story short, I am 42 years old, after 2 years of continued UTI's and vaginal irritation, burning, itching etc and most recently bladder problems, all tests coming back clear, I was referred to a women,s health clinic and prescribed Femoston 2/10 and Vagifem, but then discharged!!!!! The Vagifem has been amazing although not stopping all of my symptoms in particular the UTI's however the itching and burning is now very manageable especially after adopting dancing girls regime (thank you dancing girl). However I did not feel the Femoston was suiting me and my own GP by her own admission felt due to my age I needed to see a specialist. I booked to see a private consultant.
I had my appoint, net last week and now feel completely confused, she basically told me she does not believe what I am experiencing is hormones and said atrophy usually only happens after menopause. She has diagnosed me with a really obscure illness called "mast cell activation syndrome" prescribed me a lot of medication, told me to stop the HRT and eat a low histermine diet which is really restrictive. (She has a special interest in histermine intolerance) I am extremely sceptical, particularly as the Vagifem has helped me so much. I have suffered with anxiety for many years and unfortunately al this has made it worse than it Hansen in a long time. I have booked to see my GP tomorrow to talk this through, but any advice would be appreciated. This doctor said my bladder problems are caused by the histermine intolerance and my vaginal irritation was caused by years of wearing trouser and prescribed a month long regime of hydrocortisone which I had to stop on the first night as it really irritates me.
Sorry for the long post, this website has been a godsend to me, but everything I thought I knew has been turned on its head. Any advice would really be appreciated.
