First period at 17 (late I know - I was very slight/possibly underweight)

Current 51 and peri and started HRT 5 months ago
Mother had hysterectomy so don't know what her 'natural' menopause age would've been

Pre-menstrual syndrome is hormone dependant in that it affects the body in the 10-14 days before the bleed begins.  Once the bleed starts symptoms should go away.  Maybe Toodlepips there is something underlying that causes you to feel awful all month round?

16/08/65 was my 1st period and we were away from home  :'(.  I was 11.  The next was several months later and within 2 years I had Very Painful periods  :'( :-\ until I went on The Pill at the age of 16.  Sterilised in my mid-20s then PMS in my late 30s which was awful.  I was 49 when my periods finally stopped.

The other dates I remember easily are my birthday, DH's birthday, our wedding anniversary  ;D

Oh that's reminded me  ;D.  That first Sunday we had nothing prepared though I had felt very sick for 2 days.  Mum used old rags that Granny had laying around  :-[.  Then my Dad wanted to visit someone on the way home from Grannies  :o which meant walking ..........

Mum introduced me to sanitary towels with loops which hung from a belt.  For years.  At least they could be burnt and not washed as Mum needed to do as she was growing up.  I tried various stick on knickers-type pads but most either stuck or allowed leakage, big time  :'(.  I had clots so at night needed at least two layers as well as trying to sleep on a thick towel - for years++  :-\

Do Girls have it easier?  There is certainly more choice of protection.  Then we get to the age of needing Tena-lady  ::)

Oh  :-[ the embarrassment of needing to use that incinerator 'cos the 'big girls' huddled round it.  It was the warmest place in the School  :-\
