How to start femoston & do you still ovulate ?.
« on: June 11, 2018, 06:41:56 PM »

Hello ladies, bit of background info I'm 46 and been suffering what I believe to be per I menopause symptoms for years, the worst being insomnia, fatigue, facial hair, weight gain, lack of libido. My partner and I were trying 3yrs to have a baby  together,  I did catch pregnant 18 months ago but sadly lost it. The thing is while I was pregnant I felt absolutely amazing,  sleeping well,  libido returned. This made me think about trying hrt and thanks to your forum I decided to ask for femoston 1/10. My question is do you start it day one of your period and will it prevent ovulation or is there still a chance I might catch pregnant on it ?. Many thanks. x

Hi lillith112

 :welcomemm:

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage after what was a long awaited pregnancy. As you know at your age a successful pregnancy is more unlikely than likely but not unheard of. If your periods are still regular then it is a good sign that your ovaries are still working although the viability of the eggs probably won't be as good. The good news re Femoston is that it does not prevent ovulation and occasionally (I have no idea how often) has kick-started it. Are you seeing a fertility specialist? There was definitely a member on here maybe a year ago who got pregnant while on Femoston although I think she was younger. I will try to find her post. Wishing you all the best.

Hurdity x  :bighug:

PS Yes you start Femoston on Day 1 of the bleed

Ah Hurdity, thankyou so much for your lovely reply. I had the usual blood tests via my GP which show I am still ovulating, scans show I have plenty of eggs but at my age it's egg quality thats the problem  :(  My best chance of success is donor eggs, but unfortunately I cannot afford it. I am still unsure whether to try the femoston or just try naturally for a few more months.  I don't have time on my side though. Just to add my periods are very regular,  usually 26-28 days.
