Hi Florence69
I'm not sure where the double application on the same area comes from - I haven't read that anywhere (ie that it does actually concentrate the dose) but presumably as he's a prof then one would take his word for it!
Re the forearm - I presume he means the lower forearm rather than the upper arm? Personally I would not apply gels to the upper arm although lots of women do and oestrogel actually says shoulders or upper arm I think. I can't see a problem with the inner forearm ( lower) but I also can't see the advantage - ie you still have to cover the area with clothes in the winter or stop the area touching /rubbing other people/pets if you leave it exposed (assuming you apply in the morning)?
When I used it I just applied to inner thigh and rubbed it in (as per instructions) - whereas some gels should be spread not rubbed, according to instructions. I used it for just over a month but having used patches for 11 years found the prolonged "tackiness" a right pain and also I didn't really get the dose right compared to patches and at my age ( mid 60's) went back to my tried and tested method, but if you are new to it, it is definitely worth pursuing different ways of doing it until you get one that works.
Let us know how you get on with whatever method you try as this is sure to be helpful to other women - especially if you try the double application of half the dose on one area (but this does mean more hanging around though....)
