On Oestrogen gel. Got some Q's.
« on: May 31, 2018, 06:26:32 PM »

I have been given Sandrena Eostrogen gel sachets and am to administer one a day during my cycle on days 16-26 due to horrible PMS. I think each sachet is 0.5mg

Before I went to the consultant I had already started to change my diet to try and naturally increase my oestrogen levels e.g. eating lots of soy products.

Am I OK to carry on doing this given that I am using the gel?

Oestrogen gel should be used every day. The progesterone tablets should be used on days 16 - 26.

Ditty - it sound like Angsana is being given specific hormone treatment - not an HRT regime.

AngsanaBlossom - are you peri menopausal?
How old are you?
Do you have regular periods
Are the doctors simply treating you for PMT?

It should be fine to eat a diet high in soya - it's good for you anyway and shouldn't effect the use of the gel.

I am 48 and yes I am peri-menopausal. I went to a menopause specialist. I told her I was OK with the other symptoms, they didn't bother me yet and only concerned with the anxiety and depression I felt in the run up and start of my period which was affecting my ability to function. I was given the gel to take in the run up to my period and for the first few days. TBH it has helped this cycle. I have regular cycles.

Hi Angsana - if you are seeing a me I specialist then that's great - just follow her advice. Once you start getting erratic periods you will need to have a more standard hrt regime or the womb lining will build up.
Hope the extra bit of oestrogen helps. DG x

Thanks Dancing Girl.

She said that as I am having regular as clockwork periods she wouldn't be giving me progesterone. We have a 3-month review and will alter it accordingly. I don't think I am full swing into it yet. The other symptoms are not bothering me much and so I'll save the big guns for when I need them.
