Fed up
« on: May 02, 2018, 07:21:18 AM »

Morning all. I'm on my last but one green pill of Elleste duet. I've woken feeling nauseous and so down I want to cry. I thought after 3 months on this, my body had adapted to the hormone shift, not so sure now though. I'm more or less housebound as don't walk very well. Years ago if I ever felt down I'd go for a walk. Not an option now, what do you all do to pull yourself out of feeling so fed up? :'(

Hi jenjog

Sorry you feel so down, I too was like this the other week, and crying a lot,
this bloody hormone thing really messes with your head doesn't it.?

I  listen to music, or watch something on tele, it takes my mind off ‘me' if you like.
Music does it all the time, try it, anything you like anything at all, (as long as it's not soppy love songs)
Lol anything upbeat does it for me, and also eat properly, too few calories will make you feel worse.

Hope you start to feel better soon,  sending you  :foryou:

jenjog - why can't you walk well - what are you health issues? Being housebound must be dreadfully depressing and no HRT will change that. So many women believe HRT will solve all the problems but essentially it can only calm flushes and night sweats allowing for better sleep and more energy - some find it can help mood whilst others find HRT brings low mood and PMT type symptoms.  HRT alone is not going to sort all the menopausal problems, it is a range of strategies that will usually help improve quality of life.   Tell us more about what is going on with your life so we can support you better.

No I'm don't get depressed about being in home a lot, was born with a spinal condition and I'm fine with it. The feeling down had only happened since started peri and is most definitely hormonal. I'm feeling better than I did earlier, most days I'm fine and only have the odd blip so can't really complain.

I would continue with this hrt for another couple of months and I'm afraid some pmt type symptoms either just before or after you come to the end of the progesterone phase is normal with any HRT. Often this pmt/low mood stage lasts 2-3 days each month and subsides once the bleed starts. If you are feeling better most of the time on this HRT then stick with this but if the progesterone phase is generally giving more low mood and other side effects  then it might be worth switching to a different type eg Femoston. Everyone is different so what is best for one person won't be right for another. HRT rarely gives you a constant  feel good. DG x

Generally I feel ok, I don't have as many down days, so I know it's working. I'm going to stick with it for a while, but if I still get these really dark moments when on the last few days of pack I will talk to my GP. He's really good and very understanding.
