Really not handling this situation very well at all..no periods for quite a while...hot flushes, sweating, terrible sleeping (too much of it), itchyskin and eyes, headaches every day, crying, tired all the time even tho all i do i sleep, pain in my tenples, sensitive teeth, very enotional all the time.joint pain and stiffness everywhere..feeling nothing but fogginess , have always suffered from depression but this is something worse, im now convinced something bad is going to happen or im going to die.....went to the docs a while ago, he said it sounds like menopause but prescribed me 100mg of sertraline :(...Im not sure if these would help...a few weeks down the line and its getting worse...I feel like im going through the motions and everyday I'm in pain, emotionally and physically...I don't know how to fix it :(

Hi joolz3

Sounds to me you need hrt.
Can you book an appointment with your doctor again, or maybe another
Doctor at your surgery and tell them you want hrt?
Sounds like you've got all the symptoms of menopause/peri.
You don't have to be like this, go back to the docs and tell them you think it's menopause,
I did and they did blood tests and sure as hell my results came back telling me I was
Menopausal.
I started hrt for mostly, very low mood and anxiety, and now feel better than before, although
My anxiety does come back but not as bad, but does give me the odd chest pain which freaks me out
Big time, but then I relax,or move and it goes.. nothing is perfect.
But at the same time you have choices, you don't have to feel like you do,
Please go back to the doctor, ask for blood tests, and hrt.

I'm sure once you start you'd feel better in a short time.

Completely agree with Jillydoll. So sorry you're suffering like this and you really don't have to but how typical of a Dr to say yes it's menopause then give you antidepressants instead of hrt! Unfortunately this is happening too often and even though lots of drs and menopause specialists are fighting for us it's s long slow process to get GPs up to a level of understanding. Have a look at the available hrt above in the treatment tab and go back to your gp with the research you'll find on here and say you want to trial hrt. Good luck xx

Hello joolz3 and welcome to the forum.

I agree with the other ladies, everything you've said indicates menopause, even your doctor thinks so but bizarrely has recommended anti depressants. Would this happen with any other diagnosis I wonder?
I think you need to see your GP again and ask to try HRT as this is likely to successfully treat all your symptoms, not just the emotional ones.

Wishing you well.
