Symptoms different after each period
« on: April 07, 2018, 07:11:57 PM »

I'm just wondering if others have had similar experiences? Over the last year or two my periods have been 1-3 months apart, and after each period I seem to experience different symptoms, most noticeably hot flushes. So since my last period 2 months ago I've had really bad frequent hot flushes. Prior to that period I had none since the previous one, and a few prior to that one. It's the same with feeling tired / lethargic after some periods but fine after others, and sometimes its one symptom, other times a combination, but no two cycles are the same. I hope that makes sense.

HORMONES  >:(  ::)

Fortunately any flushing disappeared as I went through peri and was after my bath every night, accompanied by intense itchiness across my back and shoulders.  It was more of a light 'glow'.

I suspect that your symptoms are the normal hormonal fluctuations.

It just seems strange that they change with each period. I'm currently hoping for another period so the flushes stop, but who knows they may not  ???

I think that the flushing is related to a drop in oestrogen, I'm surprised that no one else has dropped by with advice !

Perhaps put 'oestrogen levels' in the search box ?

getting-older - what you describing is so typical of the peri menopause phase when the ovaries are starting to fail.    Periods can be longer or shorter, heavier or lighter, there can be longer or shorter gaps between periods and flushes will come and go with the fluctuations in hormones.
SO - there is nothing strange about what you are experiencing - in fact I would say very normal.

If these symptoms become too troublesome then a low dose of HRT will balance things and give more predictability.

Thanks DG. It's good to know it's normal, even if it is a pain. I just wasn't sure because of how distinct the changes were, as between some periods there are no flushes, then between others there are really bad flushes etc.
This getting old stuff isn't fun  :'(
