Sorry to fill up the board with another question but after being prescribed testim, the pharmacy says it can't get any. Tostran is the alternative. What's the difference? Anyone know?

To the best of my knowledge they are the same. Testim is in sachets, Tostran in tubes, but otherwise interchangeable.

I think Tostran is stronger so you don't need as much

Sorry pardon!!! I was getting mixed up between Tostran and Testogel and Testim! Tostran is I think the one in the pump, and as Dotty says, stronger.

Just to confirm - Testim and Testogel are equivalent and equal strength. Tostran is TWICE as strong and as such not recommended as much as the others because we are using pea-sized blobs anyway - and I started with a "petit-pois" szied blob. There is no current commercial preparation licensed for women so we are using the T for men and a tiny amount. Therefore it is less easy to determine a small amount of Tostran and more easy to give yourself a larger dose than needed and very hard to be precise with this. Those women who are using more T (some are prescribed quite large amounts) it's not such an issue - but I would push for Testogel in the absence of Tostran if you can.

Hurdity, that's good advice. I'll speak to doctor again. i def don't want something strong.

Also, while I remember the consultant said it didn't really make any difference what my ostrogen levels were before taking testosterone (and that my ostrogen levels wouldn't have been that different at different points in the week, depending on when i put patch on). They rarely looked at testosterone levels per se, but more at symptoms.

The Menopause Clinic I am being seen at were OK with me using Tostran but said 1 pump 2-3 times a week, not to use it everyday.
