My son takes just 50mg but found this was not enough and added mirtazapine to the mix.  He finds his anxiety is kept under control with this.  I take escitalopram and pregabalin and found the latter to be much more helpful for anxiety than the SSRI.

Hi,
I have had a life long ‘love' affair with anxiety.  I have tried most of the ssri and tricyclic.
The one that has always done the trick is paroxitine. It has had some seriously bad press over the years, but i have always found it amazing. It knocks the old anxiety right out of the water.
I tried stertraline on one occasion and it was NOT a good experience - made the whole thing worse- really agitated, insomnia etc.... however saying that i have a friend who swears by it.
Ultimately it is trial and error, you will always feel, worse for about 2-3 weeks until it starts kicking in then if you feel it is not suiting you go back and try another. I belive stert is ‘ fashionable ‘ at the momemt.
