Feeling exhausted on Oestrogen.
« on: February 10, 2018, 05:46:22 PM »

Hi again ladies, I am feeling sooo much better than at Christmas when I last sought your advice. I was really depressed. Have other menopausee' s found if they change any oestrogen or progesterone they feel bad 're, depression and anxiety ?

My consultant said to stay on Oestrogel for 3 months which is fine but I had a proper week long bleed after 1 month, so hoping I won't need the Utrogestan now ( going to check the endometrium to make sure its thin)

Also this last week feel exhausted as I used to with the different progesterone Iv tried. Calm but exhausted. Did I read somewhere that oestrogen converts to progesterone ? ( I could have a little virus but this exhaustion feels more progesterone intolerancey )

Your advice and guidance is always so welcome.
Many thanks Coll x

Tried Tablets then Evorel 50 patches
Now on Estradiol 17B (0.06%)
Blob of testogel every other day.
Utrogestan 7 days every 3 months
Tried citalopram 20 at Christmas cause was feeling suicidal when I upped my oestrogen dose. Am now down to 1 every 3 days and feeling really good mood wise.
Running 5 times a week, just 10 to 15 mins

Hello  Coll.

I've just noticed your post and hopefully more knowledgeable members will be along to advise you soon. Could your exhaustion be  crashing fatigue as reported by other ladies plus  my trusty meno book mentions fatigue and lethargy as menopausal  symptoms. The other possibility is that your long bleed has made you anaemic. I was diagnosed with this recently and I have zero energy, no appetite and cold hands and feet.

Wishing you well.

Coll - I doubt your fatigue is related to oestrogen. Not heard about oestrogen converting to progesterone !!!  If you are peri meno then you own hormones may well be having an influence.  If you are spontaneously bleeding without using progesterone then this might either indicate that your lining is building up or your own progesterone levels have kicked in but either way this might make you feel fatigue?!
Lots of viruses around so probably that. You have Vitamin D deficiency ( very typical for winter) or low B12 and iron?

Low mood, anxiety etc are difficult to control and HRT alone will probably not be enough. CBT, Mindfulness, lifestyle changes etc are needed alongside HRT.  You could simply have the winter blues? Perhaps you need some sunshine.
