I agree it is nice to look back.  I loved marbles particulary if you won that silver one, we played for hours.  I also remember going with my big sister, we walked everywhere I think she was going babysitting and we used to peer in the windows on the way (street houses no gardens) and count how many houses had colour tv's (as we didnt have one then).  Great fun!

Spending hours playing 'kerby' (throw a ball towards the opposite kerb - aim is to get it to rebound off the kerb back to you) - it's only possible to play on a street with no parked cars and little or no traffic passing through .... I can't think of anywhere kids would be able to play it now  :-\

I think we had the best childhoods; no computer games and using our imaginations x

For me putting a board on one skate and hurtling down the hill. Playing jacks. Going on our bikes and parents not worrying where we were because someone would always have seen you and not going home until dusk. My first bike. Didn't have a lot of money but my dad painted up a black one with a basket on the front and I was absolutely thrilled. I can still remember the feeling when I saw it hiding in the hall one Christmas morning

We would have the longest ever skipping rope to stretch across our not so busy road, in those days, and two of us, sometimes 3, though it didnt last that long would skip singing Jelly on the plate, something about granny doing a bit of stitching cant remember any more of the words.  Then it would all stop and we would run in for money as the local Tonibell pink ice cream van would come round and we would get an icecream with a lolly stuck in it.  Spoilt!!

YES Daisydot - proper chips and my granny's gravy left from Sunday!! Also in hot summers when the grass was long and dry we used to flatten out cardboard boxes and slide down hills on them, we were still doing this at 16 to the contempt of the cooler girls 😂 You could do the same on an icy road with a good solid plastic bag, none of your biodegradable rubbish xxx
