Sore chest and feeling furious!
« on: December 17, 2017, 03:27:52 PM »

Been on evorel conti patches for about six weeks. Okay at first, but of acne, but now my boobs are really sore and I regularly feel like decking people...mainly my true love..not my normal feeling at all!!!( don't worry I am not going to do it!)

I understand this is too much oestrogen ( boobs) and too much progesterone ( anger). Wondering whether to cut the patch in half, but guess I should speak to GP first.

Yep. Speak to your GP.  Medications are 'packaged' appropriately so it isn't wise to keep cutting etc..  Many ladies have problems with progesterone.

You may find that a change of progesterone will help. Norethisterone which is in Evorel is notorious for giving some women PMT symptoms such as anger, depression etc. FemSeven has a kinder progesterone and is also a patch - they don't stick as well as Evorel though but you may find this will help with the anger.

Thanks for all the replies. I haven't been back to the GP yet, due to the Christmas break. However, I have now started what resembles a menstrual bleed, for the first time in around five years!

I am assuming this is just a synthetic thing and I don't need to start contraception again.

Definitely not something I want...brings a whole new meaning to the ‘festive period'  :o, so I will definitely get straight there in the new year.

If you haven't had a period for five years then I reckon you can safely assume this is a bleed from the conti HRT. Conti HRT can cause this type of bleeding for up to six months so is considered normal. I think it should say this on the patient information leaflet?

Thanks, I spoke to GP and they told me to finish the pack and then stop, due to the side effects outweighing the benefits at present and then consider if I want to try another systemic version.
