Womb scan , low utrogestin outcome.
« on: October 06, 2017, 02:00:16 PM »

I have been on 7/10 days of utrogestin for the last two years as I am P intolerant.

My scan was absolutely fine....so I am going to have three months of no utrogestin, so we can see if I am P intolerant or depressed.

Upping oestrogel from one to two a day.

Carry on with estring , she has no worries at all with no Utrogestin as my scan was fine , and nothing disastrous is going to happen between now and then , re womb.

She will only allow me to use utrogestin/ mirena due to my migraines.

If P intolerant, we will then be inventive with it and carry on with regular scans , T will be tried next time as she likes to do one thing at a time so you no what is friend and what's fo.

Be easier all round when I am out of perimeno as my own cycle is causing havoc. I would have been put in a sanatorium a 100 years ago , I am sure . 😏 those poor ladies. 😕

Maryjane, that is excellent news and as I have said on here many times before, the vast majority of women don't need anything like the amount of progesterone stated in the NHS guidelines.

In the past I have had to ditch out on Utrogestan due to migraines and  have taken just 1 x 100mg Utrogestan capsule (vaginally) and still had a proper bleed.  I have very often only taken 3 x 100mg capsules and again, had a normal bleed followed by a uterine scan immediately post bleed which revealed a womb lining of just 2mm so it is very obvious it would be mad for me to take the NHS stated dose.  I would say if you have to be very inventive with Utrogestan then do so (as I have) because it won't kill you and you can have regular scans to make sure you have good clearance.  After all, what is the alternative, give up on HRT altogether and suffer?

It will be good if you can be period free for 3 months but I found that because I take two pumps of gel every day, I get a build up and start shedding automatically when the lining measurement reaches about 7mm.

In my case, I am hoping progesterone is all in the past now because I have just started a new trial and switched from Utrogestan to the progesterone free/bleed free Bazedoxifene.  You might want to run this idea past your specialist.

Thanks for the update and really pleased to hear this Maryjane. As you say you are still peri-menopausal ( can't remember what your cycle was doing before you started HRT?) so you will be producing plenty of your own progesterone when you ovulate  - hence the recommendation that you can try without for 3 months.

I remember others in early peri also being advised this - that some prog holidays could be taken some months - I think GypsyRoseLee was one (hope I'm not remembering wrongly?), and a member who hasn't been on here for a while - clovie I think was another.... Apols if I'm wrong re who it was, and my brain isn't working....defo some members though!

It's when you are post-meno that it could become more of an issue - the shortened prog cycles.

How did you find using the Utro ( vaginally I presume?) with the Estring? I'd quite like to try the Estring as it seems so much easier but wondering about estradiol and vag progesterone both entering the uterus at the same time and whether the prog would work quite so well? Perhaps you've already asked your gynae this? It's beyond the expertise of my GP (gynae specialism).

I tried U vaginally but flared my VA to much , yes it's fine to use estring at the same time as U , my gynae is happy for E to be used for ever regardless of its licence of two years , she has 70 plus year olds using it.

If your happy with vagifem though , is it best to not rock the boat ? It is easy though must say , can have sex with it in also , I do have to put a piece of loo roll to support my perinium when I open my Bowles as it has popped out a couple of times , 3 9lb babies a bus and all that . 🙄😳🤣.
