Hi Katia - The Intrinsa patches stated not to be taken with conjugated equine oestrogens (CEE). As far as I know it is only oral oestrogen which raises SHBG (apparently quite substanitally) and I'm not quite clear whether the CEE types raise it even more. There was a bit of confusion in the research info presented in the Intrinsa scientfic data paper. Therefore you will be increasing SHBG while taking the Premarin and reducing free T. For the Intrinsa patches this was also reflected in the efficacy of the treatment (in terms of libido) ie less effective with CEE.  Premarin is a mix of horse oestrogens and is different from estradiol although I think this is one of the oestrogens contained in it. I imagine Premarin will have different affinity for oestrogen receptors than estradiol alone. Sorry to hear about your mood - peri can be a bit of a rocky road!

Hurdity, I think it must just be the patches that didn't agree with it.  The tablets and T seem to be prescribed together.   I've stopped it for now and will add that to my list of questions.  Surely the side effects would be the same/similar for women? Women are using less, but require less.
I'm trialling provera instead of utrogestan and notice some of the benefits of T with that without the side effects.  The only thing is my hair, which is much softer and shinier than with utro, seems to be coming out more. Peri is a bit of a rocky road.  My skin which has always been clear keeps breaking out.  I wonder if the pill would be a better option again.
