Changing from one pill direct to another
« on: August 31, 2017, 05:43:53 AM »

Hi Ladies
My GP last night prescribed me a new hrt as I was still getting sweats from the one previously prescribed. I've literally just stopped femoston and started kliofem. Question I just want the know am I ok to just swap over straight like this. GP was hurried last night as she was running late and when I asked wasn't too informative.
Is anyone taking kliofem?

Hi and welcome
It's fine to do the immediate switch but do allow for some possible side effects as your body adjusts. DG x

thanks DG. I've already had a upset tum from the other hrt. GP said it will calm down. Frankly as long as the sweats and my low feeling settles and stops then I don't mind.
What are you taking and how do you feel on it?

Jan Jan - I'm 61 and stopped HRT just over a year ago. I had a premature meno so had HRT on and off for over 25 years - I tried just about everything there was to try and to be honest every HRT gave some side effects but the Mirena with Oestrogel was my best HRT regime.
I stopped HRT because I simply got fed up with the HRT side effects - the last regime I tried was the Utrogestan with Oestrogel but Utrogestan gave me the worst side effects of any of the other progesterones.
I do miss the energy that the oestrogen gave me and my joints are certainly suffering since I stopped - using HRT is about the benefits versus the side effects.
If you stick with a sequential HRT regime, and put up with the monthly bleed, then this often reduces the low mood that progesterone causes.
Good luck. DG x

thank you heaps for the info. I will ride this and just keep fingers crossed that my tummy settles. I think the sweats have actually calmed down already. I haven't woken in a puddle for over a week now. so on the up there. Just need for my poor tum to calm down.

thanks again x

Eat small amounts often and avoid spicy or acidic stuff. Stop all caffien and alcohol. Try leaving out milk for a while and have soya milk on your cereal instead.
In other words, eat really bland food and allow your digestive system to settle.
I had awful problems with my digestion earlier this year and by following these simple things I am far better.
Do try to have good brisk walks everyday - it really helps digestion. DG x
