All good advise, but what happens if and when we have to stop using HRT? Or if GP decides to stop prescribing it?

There is no end date we can stay on HRT so long as we no the risk/ benefit ratio.

Many ladies in there 70/80/even Mr Panay has a couple in there 90s on HRT.

And how do you convince a GP that is the case?

Don't no if necessary get referred to a specialist, show GP NICE guidelines.

Sorry, having a rant as VA is the pits! And frustrates me when GP's leave you feeling like you are making it up, or have two heads!
Why is it that to get an understanding, knowledgeable person, and successful treatment, e.g Mona Lisa touch, good HRT combination… we have to search and pay?? It's wrong, there is a massive percentage of women living 30 years past menopause, it's time doctors were better informed and educated to help us cope through these years!

Totally agree , problem is only about 7% women go to there GP with VA , we hide away embarressed etc ....so so long as this carries on nothing will change.

For me it's just another body part and do not understand the shyness around this area, we congratulate in when it's given birth yet ( can't think of the word 🤔 ) when going through menopause it's all 😱😱😱.

Messaged you .

In my experience you may have to serach but you shouldn't have to pay.  I found a GP in our practice (third one I tried) who is very informed and helpful and explained to me how my VA was also causing my bladder issues because the urethra also dries out, not just the vagina.  She is happy for me to use my prescribed Vagifem as often as I need for ever and I also have estriol cream to use externally.

Hi babyjane, you have the same issues as me then, I too have bladder issues, I've been on systemic HRT with Mirena coil and estring and now have estriole for external use, I'm just not convinced my current GP will be happy to prescribe indefinitely, she said most women stay on HRT for about two years!
Seems even female drs are nervous about bad press from years ago!

I have found the estriole has helped stop the sore cracks I was getting at times, but I think I need to be careful how often I use is as I've had real soreness and slight rash on skin between my bottom cheeks (sorry to much info 🙄) I'm now using nappy rash cream to soothe and act as a barrier, and reducing how often I apply estriole, and only applying to inner areas

I don't use systemic HRT, just the Vagifem and estriol cream for my VA.  It keeps it all comfortable and I have not had any thrush or cystitis since using it (7 years now)
