Bristol clinics
« on: August 23, 2017, 05:53:01 PM »

Hello

I'm thinking I might go and get a private consultation. I live in the south west and am considering Bristol. I've checked the specialists list on the website and know Dr Annie Evans has retired.

Mrs Caroline Overton is there now. Her website suggests her specialism is in endometriosis and fertility rather than menopause - has anyone had experience with her, or experience of this clinic?

Apologies if I'm not allowed to ask this sort of question.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Ideally someone kind and patient!!

I presume you found this post from Pollyanna, who mentions Caroline Overton? https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,36173.msg579723.html#msg579723

It's absolutely fine to ask about specialists as long as nothing defamatory is said!! What would be frowned upon is excessive gratuitous promotion of individual private gynaes and their regime if this information hasn't been asked for and if it is just a general hormone treatment that is being discussed for example.

Sorry I can't help - I saw Annie Evans in Bristol two years ago for testosterone and I am still using supplies, but I get my regular HRT (Estradot and Utrogestan) from my local GP.

What do you need help with that you can't get from your doc? Have you tried consulting Dr Currie - much cheaper - if you think you can then take this to your doc?

Hi Hurdity and thank you.

I did notice (ie searched for and found!) that thread but it didn't really mention managing menopause per se.

I have asked Dr Curry for her opinion and she suggested transdermal  Evorel Sequi was the way to go for a more stable dose and better absorption. When I tried Elleste Duet it made me a bit "grrr and headache" so I thought Evorel Sequi might not suit me either. You kindly replied to a previous post suggesting Estradot and Utro. Unfortunately my GP cannot prescribe Utrogestan so my choice is a bit limited. I was ok on Femoston 2/10 so I'm trying Femseven Sequi at the moment. Patch is still on but I can see why people have problems with it. It's a bit inflexible! On the plus side my digestive system is happier!

GP says there's no menopause clinic locally.

Anyway I thought perhaps speaking to someone who is expert but also more local to me and might know a way around the prescribing red tape might help. I don't know. I'm a bit fed up.
