Hit 4 month Mark on Angeliq
« on: August 17, 2017, 09:16:09 AM »

Hi

Well today is the 4 month mark taking Angeliq (combi HRT) I wanted to update you as I know reading other ladies experiences has helped me in the past esp the Tibolone diary thread.

Previously I managed 4 months on Tibolone and felt well in myself however the dizziness increased to the point my DH had to hold my hand when walking. Prior to that I was using 3 pumps of Oestrogel with 7 day separate Northisterone. I was ok for 2 years and then for some reason it stopped working.

My Gyne suggested I try Angeliq again with a blob of Testogel, as when I tried it without the testogel 2 years ago only managed 6 weeks >:(

Positives now are:
  • No hot sweats day or night
    Off balance feeling 80% better
    low dose HRT
    Sleep better
    No VA symptoms
    Skin/hair good
    Joint pain better
    No nausea or sore boobs
Anxiety improved but can raise its ugly head in the mornings

    Negatives
:

  • Feel a little sedated every morning lifts about lunch time
Dry mouth during the night wake for a drink 2/3 times during the night.
some days low mood not depressed just feel flat with little motivation
    spotting some days but improving.
the odd headache, usually after drinking wine
get tingling coming up my legs a few times a day (like shivers)

So for now will keep going and hope the sedative effect improves as it's the only thing I'm struggling with :(

Hey warwick - sorry your post got missed!

Thanks for the update and glad it seems to be working for you. The sedation and dry mouth - well I get dry mouth every night, and always feel sedated - even more so on Utrogestan - and these are mild symptoms aren't they.

As for the wine  ::) - no comment! I think our tolerance for wine reduces as we age and especially after menopause and when taking HRT. In my case I make sure usually I never drink wine after 9 pm - usually only have it early evening with food, and then drink at least twice as much water as wine afterwards for the rest of the evening. Now and again if out for a meal and have wine later - a strong coffee late in the evening sometimes does the trick (with headache prevention) as does going to bed with a couple of paracetamol in addition to the above when you've overdone it a bit (eg celebration!)!

The only thing that sounds a bit odd is the tingling sensation - wonder what that's about eh?

Anyway hope you continue to feel better on this - I know you've had a struggle over the past few years!

Hi Hurdity

Thanks for your reply.

Not out of the woods yet, still some odd sensations like the shivery felling coming up my legs. But as Angeliq is a low HRT preparation it may be due to meno symptoms still around or side effects from Angeliq, who knows????

I've just started my 5th month and Angeliq is one of the better ones I've tried. Will update the forum at 6 months. I hope I can help other ladies during the menopause journey. If other ladies are wanting a combi HRT you may need to ask your GP about Angeliq as NOT many know about it ???

Thanks again Wxx

Thank you for posting.  I'm wondering about switching to Angeliq as the P worked well for me with yasmin

Hi Katia,

I too struggled with all other progesterone including Utrogestion. The one in Angeliq is the best I've tried. My GP had never heard of Angeliq and raised his eyebrows at the price....... hey ho some times we need to find our own solutions.

Yaz/Yazmin are very popular due to less side effects!

Yes we do. I took Yasmin for about 12 years.  I still have some.

The utro is giving me insomnia and grogginess. I've briefly tried low dose femoston, slept great, but rapidly gained weight and still felt the progesterone was too strong.
Do you think it's the Angeliq or the T that's providing the benefit?

Katia,

The main benefit is the Angeliq, testogel is a bonus.

Since going on the combi HRT (Angeliq) my joints are so much better and the dizziness/off balance feeling is improving. I always thought I needed the progesterone along with oestrodiol to balance my hormones.

Warwick01 that feeling coming up your legs, I have had that and put it down to too high estrogen, but angeliq is low dose, so maybe it's from too low estrogen

warwick01, when I took Yasmin, my skin felt quite tight and dehydrated.  I assume it's from the antimineralocordicoid effect of drosperinone.  angeliq is a lower dose of it, do you get that at all?  Maybe it would be ok at a lower dose, or it was just me.  Or, do you think the testosterone balances that out as that would increase moisure?
