Baby jane/dazed/Clare11  If you still reading this post can I ask which AD you are on? I am thinking of getting a GP appointment to talk about the AD route. I thought I could cope with a couple of days a month feeling terribbly anxious but the couple of days has become longer and if I'm honest I am not coping in my head although to friends and family I probably seem fine. I am exhauseted by circular thoughts about health anxiety and have tried all the self help routes. I am not depressed, for me this is something quite specific which seems to have co-incided with perimenopause. I have had HA for maybe 5 years now, before my cycles started changing but it has ramped up in the last 6 months. Thnx ....

I have a thread about my 'depression' somewhere on the Forum.  I have got my packet of ADs to hand:

I take Escitalopram 5mg in the morning with breakfast, 10mg about half an hour B4 bed.  If my brain becomes more depressed then I add another 5mg at night until I feel better.

For anxiety I take Propranolol 20mg breakfast and half an hour B4 bed.  It supposedly stops the anxiety surges.  When anxiety floors me and I become suicidal then I have an emergency pill to swallow.  This either knocks me out for a few hours which enables my brain to relax or eases the anxiety away within 25-40 mins.  My GP has never suggested HRT 4 me as a means to ease the above.

What works for U is important.  If once a sufferer feels 'better' then the opportunity arises to consider if HRT is appropriate.  Our Prescribing Nurses discuss this apparently  ::)
