I'm afraid I've put on weight too recently weathergirl - but still seem to look OK as it's in proportion - but I need to cut the wine/beer and take more strenuous exercise. Interestingly it has gone on evenly all over and my measurements have barely increased despite the weight gain ( so maybe it' s muscle  ::) ) and my clothes all fit (it's only a few pounds....!

If you are taking lots of exercise as you do but still increasing then perhaps change what you eat - can't remember if you eat lots of carbs or not? More protein, less fat and heaps of fruit and veg! Sorry you probably know and do this already!

Thanks for sharing Hurdity! I do think I've got to keep a bit closer eye on my food. My work is like a minefield - people are always bringing in treats, home baked goods, snacks, etc. it can be hard to ignore at times! I do need to increase my veggie intake.  Some weeks I do much better than others.

I am the same as you in that whatever I've gained seems to be evenly distributed all over.  I guess there's some comfort in that! xxx

Weathergirl, i think the hormones definately affect it.  I've lost a bit as i changed from the pill and lost a bit more the week I've stopped the hrt.  Although I'm find my eating to be all over the place at the moment.  One day starving and one day not so hungry.  I'm sure my weight will be yoyoing.  I find it helps to have a low and high set point of about 7 or 8 pounds and try to keep somewhere in the middle of that.

Yes I do that Katia - well I have an upper limit and if I start to get near it I cut down - that way I will never become fat - and I think if everyone did that obesity would be cured  ;D (metabolic conditions aside). Another thing is clothes - never buy a bigger size as that is the sure way to go on increasing. If my clothes start to get tight then time to do more exercise or cut down - so some of the jeans I have had for years - and wear them until they wear out! (Bit of a loose area (of skin) round the waist though ::). Hurrah for low waist jeans eh?!!!

Weathergirl - ah if you are eating carby sugary snacks that could be your downfall!- but I was going to say also that if your weight is increasing despite good diet and all that exercise, maybe it's muscle you are increasing - ie replacing fat with muscle which would show on the scales as increased weight as muscle is heavier for a given mass. if your body measurements are also increasing then maybe it is more fat or redistribution.
