Hoping for some advice please.
« on: July 13, 2017, 09:01:37 AM »

Hi

I'm 47 and going through perimenopause.

Bit worried with following symptoms.

Had normal period cycle until 3 months ago when period didn't arrive.
The following month had a normal period. 2 weeks after that around ovulation time had awful lower left pelvis pain, weeing constantly and felt unwell,
This subsided until a few weeks later when next period due and didn't arrive. Now have symptoms of constant left pelvic pain, occasionally comes on waves which causes a hot flush. Nausea particularly in the morning, headache and feeling like crap.

Seen GP referred to gynaecologist.

I'm scared it's something horrible as feel do rubbish and in pain.

Any advice greatly welcome.

Thank you

Sounds within normal limits from where I'm sitting.  Some ladies find keeping a mood/symptom/food diary useful, something to take to various appts. to discuss.

As oestrogen levels drop off the body may become dry: inside and out: nostrils, deep in the ears, skin, vagina as well as muscles might become lax = aches and pains.  Various products have been found to help dryness and many ladies take over-the-counter pain relief as necessary.  Do read our vaginal atrophy topics too.

My periods become intermittent over 2/3 years.  I would go for months without, then have a few then nowt until I suddenly realised that they had gone.  I had a few flushes (more like a damp glow down my back) after my evening bath, also my skin would itch.

There are various HRT treatments, some of which protect heart, bones etc..  Maybe decide which symptom you would like to ease first ?  Browse round, make notes.

Thank you for you reply.

My main concern is the constant pain as feels like my ovary. 😞

I would see your GP to get the pelvic pain investigated. That's not normally a peri symptom to be honest.
The rest definitely is.

The change in your normal cycle is to be expected.

Once you get your pain sorted out then you can decide what to do next.

Hi Noo

 :welcomemm:

Sorry to hear about the pain but glad you have been to your GP and have been referred to a gynaeocologist.

Hopefully all will be well and good luck with your appointment. If everything turns out to be OK and periods are few and far between and menopausal symptoms become unbearable - especially flushes, sweats, joint aches, palpitations - then do consider HRT rather than suffer - we are here to help so do ask :)

Thanks all, feel so worried the pain is something sinister.

So what is the worst it could be?  Most conditions can be helped/eased/sorted.  So have a chat with your GP, perhaps make notes about symptoms to take along or see your Practice nurse?

Keep thinking it's ovarian cancer.

Oh that's such a worry.  Maybe hop over to the Ovacome web-site: which is how I landed here  ::) : and ask for advice?
