Hi
Started going through pre menopause last year but was able to manage it with the help black cohosh but now I think I have had them in my system for so long they are not working as good as they had been at the beginning.  I was feeling very tired, fatigue no energy and very down and fed up.  My GP has now put me on Estradiol 1mg tablets /Kliovance also the name.  I am now on day 6 of taking these can anyone advise when they actually get into your system and do you put any weight on with this strength also. Thanks

Hi typist38,

Welcome to the forum! I am also a new member, so just wanted to say hi.

I'm no expert on the hrt thing, but I'm wondering why you have been put on Kliovance, which I think is a continuous hrt rather than a sequential one (that gives a monthly bleed) if you are perimenopausal? From what I've learned, largely on this site, continuous hrt is only given if you are post menopause and have completely stopped having periods. I'm sure other ladies will have more information on this than me, as I'm quite new to all this.

I went on Evorel sequi patches for the first time last year, and I did gain weight - 10lbs in 3 months. I was pretty fed up with that, and stopped the hrt which was a massive mistake, as I'm now having upwards of 24 hot flushes a day and desperately waiting for the hrt to kick back in after 3 weeks back on it. I posted my own question recently about weight gain on hrt, and the general consensus seems to be that lifestyle changes are needed to avoid weight gain both on hrt (for some of us), and in menopause generally. Personally, I can't manage without the hrt, so although eating less, exercising more, and drinking far less wine is not what I would necessarily choose, it's a price worth paying.

The first time I started hrt it stopped the hot flushes in 5 days, but this time it's much slower, so I guess it's quite individual, and depends where you are in menopause transition, and whether the dosage is right for you.

I'll be interested to see what others say about the Kliovance though.

I really hope you start to feel better soon. This forum is incredible, and such a valuable resource, I'm sure you'll get help and support here.

:)

Hi

I haven't had any bleeding for over a year and my GP advised if that was the case he would give me this one to try and given me a 3 month supply I hope I don't start bleeding again.

Hi welcome to the forum

Kilovance is a continuous hrt so you shouldn't get bleeds, although some find they might get break through bleeding whilst you are settling on it. The leaflet on Kilovance says it's designed for women who have been bleed free for 12months so that is why the gp has prescribed them for you as you seem to be in this category. Hope you see some results soon but he prepared to give it a couple of months to settle.

That makes sense then if you are post-meno.

I really hope it helps. I wish I'd had some idea of just what I was in for going into menopause, it's been a really nasty shock. I always thought it would just all be fine. Yeah right.

Good luck, and I hope you get results soon. :)
