He's been quite ill for a while now CLKD. He was on tv a while back looking a shadow of his former self.

He was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2012 but has stayed alive on experimental drugs until now- a great mind and writer. Sad.

He was writing to the Guardian until 3 weeks ago when the Editor told readers that he was taking a break for 2 weeks, yesterday it was stated that he won't be returning .......

Obviously his luck has run out- I think he had several chronic ailments on top of his cancer after years of smoking and drinking heavily. I used to love his voice when he was on TV.
