Endometriosis and Migraines
« on: May 14, 2017, 07:58:13 AM »

Hi ladies,

My third different post as I still not had any type of diagnosis and go from normal to raving banshee in a matter of days!

I have now been referred private by my gp to gynae specialist to try to get to bottom of all my symptons.
The pain is becoming the thing I want sorting and what it is.

Does anyone know if endometriosis and migraines are linked?

My gynae is doing lap in 6 weeks to check for the endo or adhesions.
He reckons I should really have hysterectomy with ovaries but due to migraines doesn't want to as I am only 43.

I am feeling the hysterectomy is going to be my best option as suffering with peri symptons now for about 3-4 years with them becoming more severe last 18 months

My periods are erratic and my gp prescribed me pop been on 6 months and said stops ovulation but consultant said no this is not the case with pop.
I questioned why then be on it and does this cause worsening headaches and ringing in ears, he advised me to stop it.
I have and feel bad after 6 days with a bad bout of right side pains and migraine with my bowels going to in to spasm again!!

Any thoughts

I do not know much about migraines but I do know that erratic estrogen and falling estrogen levels cause severe headaches. A good book to read on this is Elizabeth Vliet's book: Screaming to Be Heard: Hormonal Connections Women Make and Doctors Ignore. She has a section on migraines and headaches, if I remember correctly.

Do not, I stress do not, let any doctor talk you into having your ovaries removed (unless there is a cancer of course) . Preserve them as long as you can. Don't !!

Good Luck

The migraines could be hormones but could also be stress related?

As for the bowel spasms there are definitely links between endometriosis and IBS. It could be there's some endometriosis in that area. I frequently get them and have had a hysterectomy so the surgery is definitely not a cure!

I wouldn't make any decisions re surgery until after your lap. Is it been done by an Endometriosis specialist?

Hi kkay,

Would not that solve all my problems?
I can't carry on like this I am having time of work feel like crap

Hi otes73,
It is a consultant in gynae so does all the ops and consultations regarding hysterectomies lapropscy and other ops.
I get pain down my right leg is that endo?
The buzzing in my head is really bad at the moment everything seems to effect all the right side of me.
I go dizzy and have had vertigo in the past.
Night sweats and of the course the normal foggy brain, no libido pain on intercourse

Thanks
