In the Mail (yes I know!) today its saying she was given Oestrogen, Testosterone and Progesterone supplements in gel and cream form.

So come on Carol - tell us what Progesterone comes in gel or cream form - coz we all want to try it.

PS - a good article, particularly as it deals with mood swings starting whilst still having periods but in the absence of the more commonly recognised vasomotor symptoms.  More and more I look back to the struggles my MIL had which no-one understood and just feel SO sorry for all her 'lost' years.

The article in the Mail for those who would like to read it:

This describes my situation exactly. No previous episodes of depression, but now in the middle of one so black l can barely function. I think she's doing a very helpful thing and I agree with her comments about the next generation of women. Let's hope they don't have to suffer through this the way many of us do. The
Kirsty Wark documentary was good in that it at least raised awareness of the difficulties of menopause, but it glossed over the mood issue too lightly.
Well done Carol I say!

Yes I think well done Carol too. It's not an easy thing to admit to either depression or ageing and meno when you are a woman in the public eye, so it's a good thing overall that she's helping raise awareness.

I did think the article was a bit misleading though and I've sent a request for a correction to the Daily Mail online because as we know the gels Carol uses ARE available on NHS and many GPs will prescribe, but the article implies they won't (or are 'loathe' to).

I hope they change it because this info is potentially misleading for millions of women given the DM online readership. You can see in the comments section lots of women have taken it to mean they can't get hold of them at all, and that's not true.  xxx

I think the fee that she received may well have made up for the "embarrassment " of sharing with the nation.
Let's remember that this is the woman who priced herself out of Countdown as over 1 million quid per series was not enough.

Does she live in our world. I really don't think so.

Cynical.....who me  ::)

She is also making a TV Documentary about this, so she'll get paid for that as well!

 I rest my case.... ;D ;D

I'm convinced that woman will do anything for a good fee.

Did she not have a trip into the jungle too.

Her problems started Nov 2015, she started the HRT treatment in Jan 2016 and went in the jungle Nov 2016 and presume she was feeling a lot better by then as she was very happy (and quite annoying!).

Yes that is very true and I guess if it helped then that's the important thing.

Sally66 - start your own thread about how you feel so that we can add experiences etc.?  Like wading through treacle sometimes, ain't it!
