Confused!
« on: March 10, 2017, 11:54:24 AM »

Hi everyone, sitting here with a raging flush but at the same time have lots of cervical mucus which is really quite stretchy (creamy yellow with some clear).  I also have other low estrogen signs e.g. poor sleeping, tinnitus, constipation but the copious mucus is really confusing me.  I'm on estradot 75 but am not stable at all and at nearly 52 do feel like my hormones are going crazy.
Can anyone suggest what on earth is going on???
Thank you xx

Hi EllaM

Oh dear, your post got missed!

Whereabouts are you in menopause do you know? I am wondering if you have Mirena or have had hysterectomy as you don't mention progestogen - either way I presume your periods have stopped so you don't know where you are in menopause? If you are still peri-menopausal then your own hormones will be coming into play. Low oestrogen does not necessarily cause sleep problems - although if it does it is usually due to the night sweats waking you up rather than anything else. The flushes can be a sign of a fall in oestrogen but not necessarily low oestrogen - 75 mcg is quite a high dsoe but maybe your own hormones have just crashed in the background and you are ultra-sensitive to the drop in oestrogen? Who can say really? Sorry not much help  ::)

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply Hurdity. I should have said that I also take utro every 2 months.
I think what I am experiencing is the effects of big fluctuations.  I think I may have been suffering an estrogen spike as on Saturday felt like i crashed and felt really dreadful. It eased on Saturday evening and yesterday , although I felt better in myself and was able to get on with the normal day to day stuff, I was crippled with anxiety as I am today. I had a very disturbed night and noticed I woke during it feeling a bit sweaty.
The hrt just doesn't seem to be making things any better when my own hormones are going crazy in the background. I have always believed I am very sensitive to the fluctuations and my options seem so limited now apart from waiting for it all to stop naturally.
A recent visit to my specialist was just awful. She was adamant that on a steady dose of hrt, with an estrogen level of 280pmol my own cycle was suppressed and what I needed wad ADs!!!! She said she would do whatever I wanted as I didn't follow the normal pattern! I left feeling very let down and without hope as I have already tried estrogel but didn't get on with it.
As you can probably tell I'm not in a very good place at the moment as life is passing me by.
Thank you so much for your support xxx

Hi Stellajane, I have tried ADs in the past but they didn't seem to have any effect.
My cervical mucus is not constantly heavy and seems to vary which I feel is down to my own hormones fluctuating in the background e.g. It I much less today and def slightly tinged with a little bit of blood so I am sure I have experienced a dip of some sort. I don't normally suffer with night sweats so something is definitely fluctuating in the background. I just want things to be a little more stable but feel like my symptoms have ramped up in the last few weeks. I'm praying this is my ovaries final act xx

The ADs take a while to kick in anyway, sometimes 10mg is just not enough to make any difference.  I take Elleste Duet with Escitalapram and it seems to keep me more or less on the straight and narrow (well, it would if my boss was a decent human being but am leavinng him soon - yeaaaahhhhh).

Your specialist needs shooting!  :o

Good Luck EllaM

Thank you SP. Got an appointment with my GP in the morning so will discuss with him. Is Escitalopram better than Citalopram?
So worried that I am going to have to give up my job as I just feel unwell all of the time. Wish I had access to a good specialist but in the North East we are very limited and I'm at my wits end xx
