Need ideas for a 60th birthday gift
« on: March 11, 2017, 08:08:32 PM »

Hi ladies

My very special friend turns 60 next month, she's been more of a big sister to me all my life and is having a party at her house to celebrate

Any suggestions as what to buy ?
For my 40th she bought me a beautiful white gold bangle and for my 50th last year she bought me a lovely silver heart shaped jewellery case engraved.  For her 50th we bought her those digital photo frames so this birthday I want to get something special.  Budget maybe £50-£60 .  Want something for her to have as a keepsake

Any suggestions ?

JL do a very nice Kate Spade Vanity Box or a Vera Wang trinket box at around your price.

Just an idea but we bought a great gift from NOTH for our daughter & SIL after they got married. It was a picture with their wedding date on, but you can personalise for whatever you want. It cost about £45-£50. The picture is made up of photos of numbers. You could use your friends DOB & add a personal message.

Hi Annie, when my friend was 60 last year, I got her a lovely personalised message in a frame from Not on the High St. It started with "I remember when..." and then listed all the special memories we had shared. She loved it and said it was her best present because a lot if thought had gone into it. It was £45. They have some gorgeous gifts on there. Otherwise, what about a really posh afternoon tea for the two of you somewhere lovely?

Perhaps If you gave us some idea of her interests that might help.
If she is a gardener, a bit of garden sculpture or a humungous clay pot.....or an expensive pair of good secateurs.
If she is always cold, a pair of cashmere gloves ...
A cook. Perhaps a cookery lesson from a local chef.
Likes makeup Perhaps a make up lesson.
If she travels then a piece of luggage.or a travelling jewellery roll.
A real silk scarf.

Also depends on whether you want to give her something that will last or not.

well I was 60 last weekend and I can only tell you what I was given.

A generous voucher for a local beauty salon (already booked a massage as my first treatment)  :)

A voucher to fly birds of prey (which I have always wanted to do but am now s*** scared as I am really going to do it)  :)

A voucher for my husband and me to take afternoon tea at a posh hotel

A keepsake box full of 60 memories that family and friends had filled it with

A weekend in a hotel being cooked for and looked after.

These are all things that I was very happy to receive on my 60th birthday  :)

What if you make up a photo album (paper) of all the photos of you both over the years you have been friends?

What if you make a photo albums of photos of you both over the years?
Or a studio shoot for a portrait?

Hi everyone and thank you for replying

My friend doesn't like going out and is devoted to her hubby so anything 'afternoon tea' etc related would be for them not me and my friend.  Her interested is working on her family tree (although I think she's come to an end in that)  and making jewellery

I've come up with a couple of ideas (well I'd buy both ideas)

I saw on the internet a tea light holder in glass and can be engraved and was about £23 I think plus I thought a really nice modern clear vase engraved and my neighbour is a florist so could incorporate a bouquet using it - do they both sound nice or should I carry on looking ? X

If you are happy with your idea then go for it.  Something personal if she's a nick-nac type of person to look at.  A photo-album is a nice idea as you can continue adding to it.

Her home is minimalistic, very modern.

I'll keep looking with everyone's suggestions in mind
