Do they ever stop?!

Just wondering how many are still having periods heading towards 55? I've had definite changes to my cycle over last 5 years, for 2 years it was one blip of a 2 month gap followed by a heavy flooding one and then straight back into normal cycle again for most of the year. Everything checked out thoroughly as had a time of endometrial hyperplasia and all was OK. Then it settled and gap started increasing and periods were normal again and now it's sometimes 2-3 months between them or 6-7 weeks! Hoping the pesky things would have given up the ghost by now! Overall I feel like my hormones are no longer doing the hokey cokey as my moods feel much more steady but my system is apparently still producing eggs?

Mine came and went for 2-3 years prior to stopping. As I was dealing with a lot of stress I didn't really notice ...... took it as 'normal for me for my age'

I am 56 and still having light periods every few weeks. You are not alone! There are a few of us here on this thread which I should rename Late Menopause!

Sorry Suzi Q but my last period was 4 months ago, I'm 55, atrophy for 3 years.
It is possible to have the worst of both worlds.

Hello Mary1962.
I think I qualify as a late finisher as the last hint of a period was a few days before my 54th birthday and prior to that they had been regular and heavy.
I've also read that there are advantages to having a late menopause. It seems we are more likely to live into our nineties though the way I feel atm I'd struggle to find anyone willing to put up with me for that long!
Take care.
