Tingly creeping feeling in head and cheek
« on: January 17, 2017, 07:29:13 PM »

Hi Ladies, have not posted on here for a while, hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.
Just before Christmas i was beggining to think i was coming out the other end of the menopause as it was the best i had felt in a long while. Hot flushes started to creep in again although not as severe as they had been in the past. I have had problems with my neck where Physio said my muscles were very knotted and tight and that this could be contributing to my headaches. She suggested we do acupuncture which seemed to work, headaches reduced greatly. My last session was just before Christmas, but now i am having a tingly creeping feeling on the top of my head and sometimes felt very slightly in my cheek. Obviously health anxiety rearing it's ugly head again. Anyone had anything like this happen to them. I am pretty convinced it is coming from my neck pain and i am being refered back to Physio but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yep, as I type  ::).  I think I probably have a nerve in the back of my neck which gets trapped = weird sensations  ::), also as oestrogen levels drop apparently muscles can become lax = all kinds of aches and pains!

Did your Physio. not offer simple exercises for you to do each day?  Also, have a look-see at how your mattress, pillows etc. are, how you sit when typing, watching TV: what type of shoe wear as this can impact HUGELY on our posture  ::) [so if you get taped on the shoulder to advise on shoe wear it'll be me then ]  :D

Right now I can feel my back pulling and yep, I'm slumped   ::)

Hi CLKD, Physio did give me exercises which i do daily, not feeling a lot of benefit, my job requires a lot of moving and handling as i work in the NHS, so neck and back are constantly under strain. New mattress 3 years ago but i was thinking of changing again to rule this out, also changing pillows. I know i slump when watching TV or on the laptop ( and yes slumped at the moment ) lol. Wear flat shoes with a slight raised heel for work (Clarks) so would hope that i can rule that out. xx

Have you had a recent 'how to lift Course'?  All employers now have to instruct their workers on how to lift, how much weight they can lift alone and when it becomes an un-safe situation so that hoists etc. have to be available.  But of course, if you work for the NHS  ::)>:(.  Certainly the Orthopod I worked for would look at a lady's foot wear B4 ever doing any examination and give advice, if necessary a Physio. attended in the Clinic to check the patients' gaits, also they were advised on sitting to iron [that's ladies then  :D] but as I never could sit down to iron ....... it's about adapting and sometimes pointing out the obvious  :-\.

Still slumped?  Yourself ?  ;). my excuse being is that my feet are cold.

Yes, all very familiar to me - I've spent a fortune on physio and osteopaths! Also get the 'coathanger' headache which I can mimic by squeezing my upper trapezius. Doing this also makes me feel a kind of cold water sensation in my head, which I get now and again - not sure if that makes sense. I'm sure it is hormonal as it would go away for months and come back again, though I found the exercise where you pull your chin in and hold helps.

Have regular moving and handling updates CLKD, but unfortunately patients are getting heavier and staff shortages don't help the situation, patients also have a tendency to grab out and pull you without warning, i have been hurt on several occasions like this over the years.  :(

Oh yes still slumped :)

Feet still cold .... still slumped  ;D

I don't know why patients 'grab', probably because they won't listen to instructions [having watched Mum interacting with OT last week]!
