Changing from Premique hrt .625/5mgs to Kliofem 2mg/1mg
« on: December 15, 2016, 10:43:33 PM »

Hi everyone... I havn't been on here for a while. But I'm wondering if someone could give me some information about kliofem hrt tablet. I have been on Premique a few years now and been great on it.  Took prescription to pharmacist who stated they could no longer get hold of them they had been withdrawn. Got another prescription from doctors then for Kliofem. Checked the type of estrogen and progesterone in it and its estradiol and norethisterone acetate. Now a few years ago I went on Evoril conti patch was fine upto about five months then bled. Kliofem as the same estrogen and progesterone in it. Does anyone think there's a good possibility I could bleed again taking this.

Hi dap5645

Sorry your post got missed - it's a very busy time of year - members going away, doing family/Christmas stuff - no time no time!

No-one can provide an answer to your question as we are all individual! It also depends where you are in menopause. if you are post-menopausal - some women do get intermittent bleeding in the first few months of a continuous combined HRT which should settle after 6 months.

Also - if you had not been at least 12 months without a period before starting the Evorel conti then the bleed could have been due to your own cycle breaking through perhaps?

The best thing to do is to try it and see - I know you are changing both the oestrogen type and progestogen  at the same time. The only other type would be Indivina 2 +5 which has the same progestogen in it - and it is the progestogen which some women find problematic - not because of the bleeding but the side effects - so you might want to try this one (Indivina) instead.  This is approx the same level of strength as Premique (0.625 mg anyway) - but you might just experience a temporary resumption of symptoms for a while after you change over as the Premique contains a mix of horse oestrogens whereas the Indivina contains pretty much bio-identical oestrogen with our own estradiol ( converted in the body from the estradiol valerate). However if you did not suffer side effectes on the Evorel ( apart from the bleeding) then why not give the Kliofem a try?

Thank you so much for the reply Hurdity. I know really when I wrote it, it was a hard one to answer because of the individuality of it. I am post-menopausal.

At the time of taking the Evorel conti I had been post menopausal about 4 years.

I have taken three of these Kliofem up to now but have had a some stomach ache and wind. But I will give them a try because on the Evoril conti I was good apart from the bleeding, which did get me down.

If they don't suit me I will ask for the Indivina which sounds a very good option.

Thanks once again for all the information Hurdity. It's been really helpful.

Have a lovely Christmas and beat wishes for the New year xx

Some women do seem to experience nausea or upset stomach with tablet HRT -  and maybe you are just reacting initially to a different type - but let's hope it settles for you!

Have a great flush-free and bleed-free Christmas yourself :)
