HI JULES 53 and all other members in this group.
I have been following you girls regularly. I am perimenopause and been on AD which did not help me. I will going to menopause clinic in Sydney tomorrow. I really want them to prescribe me some HRT form. Do you girls think it is worth taking Tibilone? I am 45 with  periods still a bit of irregular in a way. My biggest problems are anxiety, foggy mind, low libido, body aches, headaches though no night sweats. Hard to sleep more than 4-5 hours. I am trying to do pilates and meditation and yoga as part of it. I really feel blessed to read all this from you girls sitting in this part of world but reading makes me feel a little secure.
thanks girls for being bothered to share.

Pam Madra - I'm afraid Tibolone won't be prescribed in peri meno - you have to be post meno or have treatment to block your own hormones.  Why not ask for something like Femoston 1/10 - this has a kinder progesterone and suits many women very well. The alternative would be to have a Mirena fitted (really helps with sleep) and then have oestrogen as patch or gel alongside.  DG x

Hello Ladies.

I am post meno and using Evorel Conti 50 mcg patches atm but I'm thinking of trying something else and I've been reading this thread with interest.

Pam  Madra - it's good to know that the sisterhood spreads far and wide! I hope your appointment goes well and please keep us updated.  P. S. My husband and son went to Sydney in 2012 for the British Lions rugby tour and really enjoyed the city.

Take care.

Hi All. I went to menopause clinic today and was given option to try out another AD or half a tablet tibilone as there is research going on using it peri menopause women with anxiety as issue. I am not sure but may be I will have a go and see what happens over next month.
I am little confused

Suzanne1967 - The outline of your life you have just given sounds enormously stressful - I am not in the least surprised your are struggling.  The repercussions of this lifestyle over many years, then adding in menopausal symptoms, will naturally take it's toll. What you really need is some good practical help to relieve your stressful situation - you need more time to look after yourself.  Whether it is possible to get this help, I suspect, will be very challenging but it really sounds to me as though you are carrying far too much on your shoulders. It's often the toughest people, who are pragmatic and resourceful, that end up needing more help, possibly because they are reluctant to seek or accept help.  You are accepting our support so this is great - I just wonder what else you might be able to do to relieve things, even in the short term, to give yourself the time to get back on track?
It is far too easy to get into a cycle that is difficult to break - I know this only too well.  I have a son with Special Needs and have faced quite a few challenges through my life that put me close to the edge - I have learned that I can't be all things to all people and now say “NO” to a lot of things.
Look at your priorities - your health and welling must be at the top of this list.  I firmly believe you are on the right road but there won't be any quick fixes and somehow you need to have space and time to let your mind and body recover from all that has been thrown at you.
I hope this hasn't sounded patronising but I had counselling for a year back in my 30s which I found really beneficial - this made me really take stock and changed how I do things in a very positive way - I was taking far too much responsibility on myself, to the detriment of my physical and mental health and to the detriment of my close family and friends.  Please, please take care of yourself.   DG   xxx

Suzanne1967 - thank you for the update.
I still don't think the Tibolone is completely responsible for your slight side effects.  All treatments are a balance of benefits versus side effects - if you are getting some improvements then that is great.  The flushes at night are a mystery - could be slight virus???? A lot of low grade viruses flying around right now.
As I mentioned before, the libido requires you to feel good about yourself - a bit of pampering, a new outfit, some quiet cuddle time on the sofa with hubby.
When did you last do something frivolous and fun?

I am really interested in you all girls Blakegray, Suzzane19767, Osteo, Jules 53 how tibolone is going for you all. Though I know I am perimeopause and there is little data on how it helps during this phase of time. Please keep posted about your progress girls as I am following your day by day progress. I just one week into it yet.
