Hi Jules,

Thanks for your advice ;)

It does feel hormonal. I feel the same as the first few weeks on Tibolone. Hope it's just a blip.

I recall someone saying they felt worse before it got better. Most people say the 3 month mark is the point where I will know if it's suits me or not. 2.5 weeks to go.....

Sorry to hear this. Have you spoken to your doc about this Anjia? As you don't have a cycle then you can change over at any time. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi Anjia

I'm on my 1st week of my 3rd month

I'm doing ok, no increased energy sadly but stable mood , social anxiety a tad better but still a way to go.  Bit spotty this week , I have one or 2 on neck and one on chest.

Still about 5lb weight gain BUT I think I've found my G spot again ! Been gone at least a couple of years.  Last 3 times have not only been positive but really enjoyable too.  I'm thinking about sex quite a bit too, haven't got the confidence to follow it through with initiating it but joked to OH the fact I'm even thinking about it is a bonus !!

I'm carrying on another 3 months as long as nothing nasty happens.  If I stay as I am I'll continue indefinitely

Morning Ladies

10 week update.

Well at the 10 week mark and things seem to be better at last. Saying that I did have a blip on Monday which lasted 24 hours. I had the familiar dizziness, jelly legs etc. Yesterday I went to the hairdressers with NO anxiety ;) which is a bonus. I am sleeping better, no night sweats but still having some flushes through the day. This may settle as time goes on. The anxiety and agitation has improved.

As Suzanne and Jules said things settled at the 10 week mark, I would agree with that but I'm no way out of the woods yet and prepared for more bad days.

For any newbies..... the first few weeks for me were horrendous but glad I stuck with it.

Hi there
I thought I'd pop in and update. It's not good news :( I've given up the Tibolone and tried going back on the 25 patch.. with a blob of Testosterone.. I have not noticed anything really other than massive weight gain of 5lbs despite not doing any thing different and a kind of huge midriff happening almost overnight as well as my boobs increasing by about 2 cup sizes.. I feel awful, my body seems to be engulfing me in fat and I'm just beside myself. I am still waking a few times a night and have the surge feelings not really flushes.. I have no idea what to do and feel quite lost.. HRT is obviously not going to work for me and I can't seem to give any regime long enough without the same feelings (bloatedness weight gain) kicking in... I have literally changed shape in a week fat bulging out around my middle, the classic apple shape.... Iv'e gone from 136 to 139.5 lbs in 7 days!

My doc can't advice me as knows nothing and I do have a hospital appointment  in April at Chelsea and Westminster but I'll be back to square one I should think as they will want me to raise my ostrogen levels before going anywhere near Testosterone

At the moment I feel that just quitting everything and seeing what happens is the best way forward...

I just can't do this :(

Hello  abbyH.

So sorry that you are feeling awful. I don't have the answers I'm afraid but I understand your frustration and despair.

I was using a patch, have now changed to Tibolone and will be reporting my experience shortly. Throughout it all I have struggled with anxiety, palpitations and surges so you are not alone.

Hopefully the solutions are out there but for now the search continues.

Wishing you well inspite of it all.

Morning Ladies,

It continues to be quiet on here these day >:( Can I suggest we continue to update our progress as I'm confident it helps others thinking of trying Tibolone. I will update weekly.

Abby - sorry to hear you discontinued the Tibolone, however if your sure it's not for you then there is no point continuing. With Tibolone it's very different and unique being a steroid rather than other HRT formulations.

Update Week 11 today.

I am pleased I stuck with it although the first few weeks were horrendous due to side effects :(

Lets start with the positives :)

Mood improved
No tearful outburst
Anxiety almost gone
No panic attacks
Lost 7 pounds in weight
Skin/hair good
Sleeping well
Night sweats the odd one only

Negatives >:(

Sweats from 9:00am - 12:00 these have increased since stopping oestrogel. Settle in the afternoon, followed by feeling shivery. Still taking tablet at 4:00pm
Libido not returned
Spacey head again in the mornings feels like hangover
White wine is a no no
Although Ive lost weight have belly fat increase.
Joint stiffness/aches
Energy levels up and down. Some days have lots others none.

Next week will be 3 months and think I'm going to stick with it a little longer hoping things the physical symptoms improve. I was on a high dose of oesrodol for 7 years without a break so I'm sure my body still needs more time to adjust.

Tempest - if your reading this...... hope your doing ok ;)

Best wishes to all TT sisters Wxx

Hello ladies.

Warwick your post has prompted me to respond!

I began using Tibolone two weeks ago, I had previously been using Evorel Conti 50 mcg patches but finished those in late December and came off all HRT to see how I coped.  I decided I still needed something so I went to my GP and asked for Tibolone. I am 60 and my last period was seven years ago.  I was so afraid of feeling worse with side effects that I decided to cut the tablets in half so have only been taking a  half strength dose at bedtime. This seems silly now but it felt like the right thing to do at the time. I can safely say that I have felt no better and no worse these past two weeks so now I'm wondering if I should increase to a full tablet or take half in the morning and half at night. Like many ladies on the forum I just want to feel well enough to get on with my life. For anyone interested my current symptoms are:

-  Anxiety. Jittery and palpitations.

- Flushes. Not very sweaty but feeling hot and on edge.

- Sleep. Waking once a night for a drink and a visit to the loo but get back to sleep okay.

- Fatigue. Often feel tired but can't relax. Tired and wired.

- Mood. Can be very low and tearful. Could cry but often don't.

- Despair. I generally feel very sorry for myself and then feel guilty about it. I seem to have lost all my confidence and motivation.

So there you have it ladies. I will update regularly as this thread was an inspiration to me and I hope I can help others.

I agree with you Warwick in sending best wishes to all TT sisters and I also hope that Tempest is well and that we'll hear from her again soon.

Take care all.

Hi Warwick (and other TT ladies)

I'm at week 10 I think

Positives:
Libido somewhat increased
Response a definite increase :-)
Hair better condition
Mood better
Sleep getting better

Negatives:
@5lb weight gain
Few spotty areas around neck and chest
VA increased externally - will see about introducing oestrogen externally alongside my usual vagifem

NO Difference:
Social anxiety (possibly a tad better)
Energy - some good days some exhausted days for no reason
Palpitations going through a bad phase this past 2 weeks

I have been on high oestrogen before this for 18 years

Kathleen/Annie

Really good updates - thank you. I know for me the updates and support from our TT sisters like Suzanne, Jules, Snooz, Blackangray and others helped me through some difficult times.

Kathleen - try taking a full tablet, yes you may get some side effects initially but they will settle and you may feel better after the first month. I started with half the first week just to make sure they agreed with me (very sensitive to medication)

Annie - at week 9 along with some hot flushes I had a run of missed heart beats all settled now. As I said in the beginning it's such a roller coaster using Tibolone.

Take Care Wxx

Thanks for sharing about the missed beats Warwick, I've been plagued by them throughout meno so it's encouraging to know they may calm again

I feel fortunate that I didn't get the nasty effects many of you got in the early weeks, I seemed to just slip into the transition apart from the grogginess each morning and insomnia which settled about week 6/7 x
