Hello ladies.
Well, here's what's been happening with me:
I've just spent 10 DAYS in hospital (including my birthday).

I was admitted as an emergency after I became increasingly unwell - dizziness reached massive proportions and I couldn't stop vomiting. I was taken off Tibolone straight away and my Ob's showed that I was having episodes of extremely low blood pressure and my blood tests showed raised white cells and eosinophils. I have been through hell!
3 days after stopping Tibolone, all of this started to subside. I have received fantastic care - I am now taking it easy at home and am now on NO HRT AT ALL.
So far, all I've had is a few warm moments. It's been 12 days now since stopping everything. I'm sleeping through the night too - just very mild sweats at night which I am aware of but don't fully wake me. My energy is returning. Mood is level - no anxiety. Horrible hip pain which used to come and go on Tibolone is gone. Dizziness has completely subsided.
I recall Mer over in the surgical menopause thread having a very similar experience to mine regarding the dizziness, and all I can say is thank goodness she had the good sense to stop it before she became as ill as me!
I'm going for my DEXA scan next week and after consulting with endocrinology and various other Consultants I have seen whilst in hospital, I will NOT be commencing systemic HRT again. I have wasted a year of my life on this, and this last episode left me very seriously ill. The very senior endocrinologist I was under said that HRT is entirely a choice (even after surgical removal of ovaries) after the age of 45 as the bone and heart protective benefits of estrogen are enough from what our bodies have produced up to this age, and all that is needed is a good, healthy lifestyle and possible supplementation of calcium and vitamin D to support bones - weight bearing exercise is still the key though, as well as being generally active. Those most at risk from no HRT are people who have had an early menopause (before 40) or who have have had disrupted menses due to anorexia or other medical conditions. It is a CHOICE in all other women.
I am also seeing my Consultant Gynaecologist at the end of March and will be having a very thorough chat with him about localised HRT to prevent VA - at the moment all I have is dryness which I'm taking care of with YES VM moisturiser (new product which is proven to work as a non hormonal treatment for VA in women who can't take any form of HRT). If localised HRT is needed, I will of course use it to protect urinary and vaginal health and to help prevent future prolapse.
I feel this will probably be one of my last posts here on MM, as all of this had driven me bonkers and made me very ill in the end. I appreciate HRT works well for some, but for me it's been a nightmare.
Sending much love to you all - and please don't persevere with anything if you are starting to feel ill. Take a leaf from my book - it just isn't worth it and I stuck with the Tibolone for almost two months thinking that it MUST start to get better (instead, it turned into my worst nightmare).
Hugs to you all! xxxxx
