I have just had my estrogen only patch upped from 50 mcg to 75mcg last night had real bad night sweats soaking wet ! I thought the new patch was meant to stop this, has this happened to anyone, will it get better,Been on hrt for four years now still cant seem to find a balance.

Sorry to hear this Anjia. It is sometimes the case that increasing HRT can temporarily cause an increase in flushes and I really don't know why - when oestrogen is needed to prevent them! A while back (couple of years or so) I tried to increase my patch from 50 mcg upwards - can't remember what the increase was, and the same thing happened (I have my ovaries) ie flushes restarted. However about 6 months ago or more I decided to increase again because I also take testosterone and I didn't want to become too androgen dominant relative to oestrogen - so I snipped off a bit of a patch to add to the 50 mcg to give 62.5 mcg - and this has worked like a charm.

Therefore I suggest you try a similar slow increase - if the reason for your flushes is that you are sensitive to sudden increases? In other words this would be a 50 mcg patch and another quarter - or try to snip one sixth of the 75 mcg (a bit tricky!) for a few weeks and see how you go? Sorry that's all I can suggest - what a right pain  :(

Hope you manage to find the right dose to feel good again!

Hello Anjia.

I sympathise with your plight! I have been using different types of HRT since May 2013 and I still haven't found the magic formula! I am currently using Evorel Conti 50 mcg but I'm getting some problems that other ladies attribute to an oestrogen dose that is too high. Oh what a minefield. I hadn't had a period for three years before starting HRT so I sometimes wonder if that has made a difference.

As usual Hurdity has made a good suggestion and if you try it I hope it works for you.

Wishing you well.
