Errr, what was that?
« on: November 06, 2016, 09:29:23 PM »

On Thursday I discovered a small amount of blood so assumed a period was looming. Friday morning I had the upset stomach that accompanies a period, but no blood, however took imodium and period pain pills. Since then nothing, so trying to work out if it was a period or not  :-\  It's been 2 months since the last one.

I have had this too so you are not alone.  I had this mid cycle but more recently instead of a period -all the build up but very little blood.

I haven't had a period since beginning of Sept. Today, as I now check every time I use the loo,I have had watery, slightly pinky fluid on the tissue, then it went brown and drier looking, then it was all clear, now it's slightly pink and watery again. Had mild cramps on and off all day.
I don't know if this is what is termed "spotting?"

Oh they joys of being a woman!

Thanks Sparkle. I wondered if it might be. Just hope that it doesn't turn into a proper period in the night.

It is so good to find other ladies in the same boat.

As I said before - all these things are very normal for peri meno.
Heavier or lighter periods.
Periods that are longer or shorter.
Longer or shorter times between periods.
Feeling as though the period is coming but nothing happens or you simply get a bit of spotting.
Occasional flushes which come and go.
Sore and/or tender breasts.
Headaches that often last for days.
Need to pee more often.
Disturbed sleep
The list goes on and on…….
Nobody can tell you low long the peri stage will last and once into post meno then nobody can tell you how long the flushes etc. will continue either.  I believe the average time scale for meno symptoms, from the start of peri until meno symptoms settle in post meno, is around 5-7 years - so this will vary greatly from women to women and will also depend on genetics, lifestyle etc.   If symptoms are effecting your ability to get on with life then HRT is probably worth trying.

Sadly we women enter this stage in our lives with little or no knowledge of what to expect - it often catches us unawares and it can be a worrying and confusing time.   This site is so brilliant.  Do read up all the info to get really clued up and this forum is there so we can share our experiences but also there are many of us who have a good deal of experience with treatments etc.
My meno started in my mid 30s and after 25 years of various treatments, I am now 60 and recently stopped systemic HRT but still using local oestrogen for urogenital atrophy that is very common but often left untreated.
Keep posting everyone - we are here to support you.  DG x

Thanks so much for the reassurance. As you say DG there are so many different things that can happen, and it seems like each month is different which is what I find so hard. I just get used to a new normal then something else happens and I'm never sure if it's meno related or something else  ???  It's like a roller coaster that I'd really like to get off.............

My pinky tinge did turn into a proper period today. Kind of relieved to finally have one after 64 days of waiting and wondering but also a bit disappointed. Oh well, now to see how long it lasts!
