So here's my story...

I was diagnosed with a UTI on August 23rd. Unlike other UTI's (I think I have had 2 others) the only symptom really was fatigue and  lower left back pain.
After 5 (yes 5  ) different antibiotics it now looks to have cleared. the last two urine samples have come back clear. However for a week/10 days I am still in pain. I stopped taking Codeine as it made me constipated and only just took the edge off the pain.
The pain is in my lower back and lower left abdomen. I take paracetamol & ibuprofen. If I do without, it is not good.

Blood tests all OK, X ray showed nothing. I am having renal & abdomen &  pelvis ultrasounds tomorrow. (suffered with dermoid ovarian cysts 3 times- between 1992 & 2002)

The only other thing I have is Vaginal Atrophy and use Vagifem

Am I missing what this could be?

I was prescribed Movicol and took that for 2 days. It worked a treat. I don't know if you have ever used this but my husband had this when he had a colonoscopy. If there is any faecal matter which I really doubt as I have been going at least once a day. I hope that will show on the ultrasound.

I will look into antispasmodics

Northwest, my right ovary is stuck to my bowel and I have had a lot of pain on that side which has been investigated and that's the only conclusion they can come up with.  The ovary never shows up on ultrasound, only MRI or CT but even then I'm not sure the adhesions show up, it's because the ovary felt high up when examined by the gynae consultant and that was her opinion.  Like you I've had cysts so maybe this is what's caused it although I have also had fertility treatment in the past.  Might be worth asking if the cysts you've had might have caused adhesions.  Good luck tomorrow.

Hi sparkle

I seem to remember them telling me before that my ovary was stuck to my bowel. All 3 operations to remove dermoids have been laparotomies, add to that gall bladder and appendectomy, so I guess adhesions a plenty.

Do you get continual pain?

Back from the ultrasound. Everything looks great.

Adhesions can't be seen on ultrasound so I guess I now need to make a GP appointment to be seen as an outpatient. Feeling really fed up as it is starting to affect my life.

I must admit, I almost feel like a fraud.

I have to work as I am self employed, I love to walk and travel. I don't normally take any sick days.This pain is stopping me at the moment.

Going to have a look at some yoga, see if that helps

Also wondering if it is because the antibiotics haven't left my system
