Lesion on face/punch biopsy
« on: February 13, 2017, 06:34:55 PM »

Just wondering if any others have had to have an outpatients punch biopsy to check on a small mole/lesion on their face? I'm a freckly/moley type but a new little thing appeared, very small near my eyelid and went to GP who thought it was worth having it checked.  Been to outpatients first appt and consultant not sure what it is (90% he felt it was nothing to worry about) but he would like to do a punch biopsy in few weeks time just to rule out anything unpleasant and/or remove it if need be whilst it's small as it's near my eye. Local anaesthetic but he said the biopsy bit I might just have to grit my teeth!  :o so just wondered if others have had experience and does it indeed hurt!

Had one in my arm last year which needed a couple of stitches  and it didn't hurt at all, bit weird them saying that when they are using anaesthetic. Ached a bit afterwards but only had to take painkillers once. Years ago a friend had one on her face and she seemed fine afterwards too.

Good luck.

I too am covered in every skin thing known to man and have had quite a few removed, thankfully all benign. I personally find the local anaethetic the most painful bit, that drug really really stings but once thats over never felt any pain. The eye is very sensitive area so can imagine the local will be a bit eye watery but its over with quickly.
