Is this nauseous feeling to do with utrogestan
« on: September 10, 2016, 02:05:27 AM »

Hi ladies
I take 100mg of utrogestan for 12 days of the month orally. By day 3 or 4 I've noticed I feel sick all day with more of a headache than normal. Tonight is day 8 and I feel so fatigued and sick so I have used it vaginally to see if it helps. I use 1 1/2 pumps of oestriogel every night. I started on 2 pumps but have adjusted it to 1 1/2 . Is this a safe way to use it? Is there any other way of getting progesterone without getting the sickness?

Utrogestan really didn't suit me - I had all kinds of side effects which I hadn't had on other progesterones.  As Stellajane says, I'd try Provera if I were you.  DG x

Michelle46, before you change to a different product completely, why don't you try using it vaginally for the entire phase and see if it makes a difference.  This is only my personal point of view but based on my experience, I don't think Utrogestan is very good when used orally and if for any reason you can't use it vaginally, you would probably be better off finding an alternative.

It's a pity there are not more progesterone products on the market that can be used vaginally, it would be nice to have more choice.

Hi Mary
Last night I did use it vaginally for the first time. I didn't sleep well and still feel sick and weak. I'm just wondering if I could have a virus. I put everything down to peri but you never know. I've got 4 nights left of utrogestan. Do you recommend using it vaginally for these remaining nights or start on the next phase of utrogestan? X

I would be inclined to keep using it vaginally this time and then do the entire phase vaginally next time.  If you still feel terrible next time then I would change to something else.  You won't be able to tell if it works better vaginally this time around because you have already used it orally and it sounds like it has upset your stomach but at least if you stop taking orally now, you won't make your stomach any worse.  There is a chance that you have caught a bug.
