I tossed out the one I used to use and went to a large boots for advice before going on holiday. She recommended a Clinique one, but not the redness solution one. It has sun protection 30. I wish I had gone for the redness solution one, but thought the better sun protection would be good.

Did you buy the Moisture surge CC cream which has an SPF of 30? I was going to recommend that. I tried the redness solution one but didn't get on with it. I find the higher SPF protection in foundation the more it aggravates. I wear the CC cream if I'm going to be exposed a lot in the summer but am always happier to return to my everyday Clinique Even Better which has an SPF of 15 but just feels so much more comfortable.

Interestingly I have found that my rosacea can just gently rumble without flaring if I'm reacting to a product, my eyes in particular are a problem. I thought I was having a flare up of ocular rosacea earlier in the year but I'd started reacting to the Clinique smudge liner I've been using for about 15 years and also a Dr Hauschka eye cream that I'd used for as long. It's such a pain when you start suddenly reacting to a long used and loved product or range. I've been using Clinique for over 40 years and can now only use the extra mild cleansing bar, DDM, foundation, a concealer and a mascara, for everything else I've had to go elsewhere. I can't use anything near my eyes apart from the mascara and an eye liner I found online from a French hypoallergenic skincare company.

I'm fortunate that so far my eyes are not affected. My GP gave me a whole lot of bumff to read, so must reread it. I find when a part of my face is affected, it never quite goes away, just subsides, then flares up. Do you find that? As to allergies, I have found that things that never caused a problem before can suddenly cause an allergic reaction, particularly during menopause. I am less reactive now I am post menopausal.

I could not clear it with anything other than the oxytretracycline, and they tried lots of stuff. With the oxy it always goes. Shame because that didn't work for you. No my face is completely clear but it starts to tingle and itch when it flares and then I have to move fast. My eyes started a few years after my face and that was a real pain because once that starts you have to keep a regimented daily cleaning cycle going, it also means I can't put any makeup on my lids. I'm fair so they are pretty pink, such a good look! People have said to me "oh, I like your pink eye shadow" duh, no!

My allergies started at the start of peri, such a pain, but you give me hope that things will improve after meno. Have to say I have seen a change already, I don't now have an asthma attack when I peel a potato !?!

That's a strange one! Mind my GS was intolerant of potatoes as a baby. I have found allergies have come and gone, though certain ones I have no intention of testing as the reaction was so severe. Probably OK now, but it involved swelling of the mouth and breathing tubes. Weird how allergies and intolerances got worse during menopause and are now easing off. Sadly the rosecea is not getting better. It would be easy to blame HRT, but when I initially had it, I wasn't on HRT. Just is I suppose.
