I commented to hubby that maybe they should have kept response at critical after Manchester instead of dropping to severe. But apparently we can't sustain that. However, how many more families are to suffer in the coming weeks & months. He said only way to sustain higher security levels is to have army on patrol. Maybe it will become a necessity.  >:( >:( >:(

Terrifies me too.

It's difficult to fight something and someone that is living amongst us. How on earth can that happen.
Why are these young people being radicalized against the country and people they live beside.

I'm beginning to think that parts of some religions are just evil. Or at least they take small sections of scriptures and read into it what they want to justify themselves.
The thought of the army on our streets is a scary thought but might become necessary. Trouble is if they are determined then nothing will stop them.

Very true Mrs B. We have been lucky here in Scotland, but I fear it may happen one day.

I'm totally convinced it will happen here too.

We don't have as big a Muslim population though which will have something to do with it no doubt.

I just wish the Muslim clerics who no doubt have huge influence were more vocal in their condemnation of this kind of thing.
They sometimes must at least suspect that something is going wrong.

Oh, there are no answers to this madness but I truly wish there were.

I don't believe this radical form of Islam is anything to do with the Muslim religion which is, in essence, a peaceful religion.  As with the IRA in its time, these radical extremists use religion as a cover to give themselves a reason for these hate crimes.  True Muslims will abhor and condemn these acts in the name of their god and their religion.

Did anyone see the story of the 46 year old devout muslim and the 93 year old Jewish woman and their deep and abiding friendship in the Saturday Daily Mail after the Manchester bombing?  I thought their love and tears  said it all, what religion is really about, not these atrocities.

I tend to agree with MBrown....until the M community particularly the influential leaders/clerics,  stand up en force worldwide and condemn this violence, I cannot see a way forward.... :'(

Not going into the religious side of it as it could stir up a hornet's nest. These people are plain evil, pure & simple.

This is our stomping ground, hubby works a stone's throw from Borough Market. It is a thriving, trendy, bustling area full of youngsters using bars and restaurants. My kids and their friends hang out there frequently.

I honestly honestly don't think this is about religion, it's a lunacy that drives fanatics. Look at the history of these attackers, they are virtually always poorly educated petty criminals with a history of violence, drug taking etc, life's non achievers. This is not in the name of Islam, or any religion, this is just an excuse for barbarism. A desire for self importance, a chance to stand out from the crowd.

I don't know what the answer is but I won't allow them to cower me. I will encourage my kids to live their lives and not lock themselves away frightened. I've lived and worked in London all of my life and experienced the many threats we've been subjected to over the years. If armed police or army patrols are necessary, so be it, we'll adjust to that, it will become our norm just as it is in Paris. We are going to have to adjust, make changes, most definitely employ protection from vehicles being used as weapons. And I think we will have to stop pussy footing around the subject of how to deal with this threat. I know that there are members of the Muslim community who are afraid to speak out for many many reasons. We have to give them the confidence to be a voice, to be heard.

My heart goes out today to all those poor souls affected by this horror, I feel crippled with sadness for them today.

I thought of you too ER!  I don't think it's necessarily anyone connected to a religion, when there are issues often others copy-cat ..... I do feel that there should be a media blackout as it's feeding their narcissism.  Initial headlines, then statements at the end of each week giving a short statement that 'investigations are continuing'.

We don't know how many plain clothes officers are already amongst us but they can't be everywhere.  Sadly it's happened in the Middle East all through the week ....... Coptic Christians last Sat. as well as a huge bomb explosion outside the German/US and UK Embassies. + people killed in Kabul at a funeral for others killed a few days previously  ........ anger about supposed issues can trigger people to cause chaos >sigh<.

I was surprised to see people leaving with hands on heads  :o ....... what did they do with handbags and mobiles  :-\
