Well as you probably all know I suffer from extreme anxiety which started 6 years ago age 44 when peri meno did. I have been on hrt since then .i also have endometrial hyperplasia which has been going on years lost count of vaginal scans biopsies hysteroscopys etc ! Eventually got on top of hot flushes in Feb this year when saw menopause specialist who gave me estradoit 50 along with utrogestran 200 mg days 1 to 14 of calendar month. However my bleed has been all over the place starting anywhere from 1st day of month to 8th day of month !
Today the specialist did a vaginal scan and my womb linings still 9 mm she thinks I'm post menopausal due to the erratic nature of the bleeds and has suggested I continue with the estradoit 50 (she was happy for me to have gel but as estrsdoit been ok I'm sticking with it ) and to take 200 mg utrogestran continually she says I need to keep the hormones steady to help my anxiety. I'm to go back in the autumn and keep a,diary of any bleeds in the meantime, she will also perform another transvaginal scan and if lining still too thick wants to take biopsy . She did ask if id considered a hysterectomy I said id jump at the chance so I suspect if this continuous hrt doesn't work on womb lining that may be the next option.
I'm really hoping this helps with my mood and my erratic bleeds.
Does this regime sound right ? Im only 50 and no idea if im still having natural periods or not ,have you not got to be bleed free for a,year or over age 54 before go onto Conti hrt ? I suppose this is the prob with peri menopause irs hard to tell where I'm at . I know they are the experts but I also know there's a lot of knowledge on this forum,
Any opinions, comments would be most welcome 😊

Thanks for the update.

However: if you can cope with this regime, avoid the hysterectomy if possible as they don't always happen without different problems  ::).

I'm sure some who have had those will be along too!

Hi walkingthedog

Just trying to take in your post....

Um - well if your bleeding is all over the place then it is likely you are not post-menopausal - if that's what the specialists said? Once you are post-menopausal - the only hormones you are getting in any quantity are due to the hRT, so your withdrawal bleed should be fairly regular. However if you have a thickened lining then this can also cause irregular bleeding.

200 mg of Utrogestan every day sounds like a lot - but if the aim is to thin the lining I can see why you have been prescribed this amount - so if you can tolerate it - let's hope it does the job!  The licensed amount fo continuous use is 100 mg for 25 days out of 28, so although you have been prescribed double - I would have thought the 3 days without utro might be helpful and permit a bleed if necessary?

You are right - you can't tell where in menopause you are if you are taking HRT.

Thanks hurdity yes specialist said I'm probably post menopausal as been peri menopausal six years so she thinks I'm probably post by now , she said she would tell if I am by putting me on continuous utrogestran and if I continue to bleed I'm still peri.im having another scan early Oct to check womb lining. I was concerned as read on here its normally age 54 or a year period free before continuous hrt is recommended but perhaps that's why I'm been rescanned after 3 month. Well fingers crossed this works , I seem to have exhausted all other options !
