Question re use of vagifem
« on: July 11, 2016, 06:56:50 PM »

Hi again - it's a question I forgot to ask the menopause specialist and my friend has also just been given vagifem and she forgot to ask the doctor!  Question is when I use vagifem (5 x weekly) should I continue to take it even if I have a bleed? (I have vaginal atrophy). I presume I do.  I am not sure if I will bleed or not, but there's some sort of discharge starting and it might be spotting.

My friend is younger and still has proper periods... should she still insert the vagifem on those days? (she is 2-3 times weekly).

Many thanks to all, as we both forgot to ask this question xx

Yes, keep on using it - though I guess it might be better if you can change your days a bit so you aren't putting it in when there's the heaviest flow and it might wash away before it's absorbed. I believe it sticks to the vaginal wall and dissolves - if you're having a peri period from hell, I suppose it might not get the chance.
